Revell Germany's just reissued Opal GT kit in 1/32 scale. The chassis looks like it was cribbed from an old Palmer kit...dual exhausts and leaf springs

I love Opel GTs. I saw the Revell 1/32 scale kit at a local hobby store just a week or two ago. There were photos of the kit on box. One look at those, and box went back onto the shelf. Man, that thing looked bad all around from what could see. Ugh!

AMT only did a couple of windshields with the molded-on mirror that I can think of: the Nova, and the '68 Camaro Z/28.  That one was done during the Lesney era.  I remember seeing a Matchbox car or two with that detail, maybe Lesney thought it would work in 1/25 scale also.  When Ertl took the mirror off of the Nova windshield, they did the same with the Camaro also.

Yeah, I have one of the '68 Camaro Street Machines (molded in dark blue, custom only) that I bought at a swap meet that has the molded-in mirror.  That was before the reissues were available, so at the time I was happy to get it, despite that quirk.

I think the wheel mismatch in the AMT Chevy Blazer kit was mentioned there, too. Six lug wheels on one end and five lug wheels on the other, was it?

Yes the currently available Crew Chief Blazer has mismatched 5 and 6-lug wheels.

I didn't notice it at first, but someone else pointed out that AMT also never added the turn signals to the front bumper after they updated the grill for 1971.  So out of the box, that kit has no front turn signals.  See how long you can drive a 1:1 on the street that way...

"Mallot" is a word in Finnish and Catalan (not in English) and a city in Pakistan.

A woman's one-piece swimsuit is a "maillot", with an "I" in the middle.  Image result for maillot 1950s

I hope that wasn't too rivet-counting-confrontational, critical and crude. ;)

Good example!!  :)  I love Marilyn.

I guess Revell AG chose the two most "European" of Revell's 1/32 scale lineup to reissue, but the box art was always far better than what was inside.

For the New Man version of the Porsche 956 one of the drivers was Mauricio de Narvaez. The Tamiya kit decals are correct. The Studio 27 decal set of that version  spells the driver's last name as " de Navarez". OOPS!

A good story about the New Man Cars is the driver "John Winter" It is isn't his real name because he did not want his family to know he was racing for a living.

I cant get to my stash to take a photo right now but go and have another look at the box top for the recent Revell 29 Ford Hiboy.  The blue car has the windshield on back to front.  The photo on the side has it the right way around.

I'm guessing the photographer knocked it off, stuck it back on and either didn't notice or didn't know any better!

Cheers

Alan

On the AMT/Frog issue of the '68 Galaxie, Daytona is a dirt track raced clockwise.

Well, you Brits drive on the wrong side of the road, so why not? B):lol:

But seriously, folks, was anyone still running full-size anythings in NASCAR in 1968? I can't think of one but then I'm not a NASCAR expert by any stretch.

Hey, you just spotted another mistake that has hitherto escaped me.

Wrong on how many levels is this box art now?

You just reminded me of another oddity/mistake. JoHan offered a Sox & Martin option on a model in 1966 (or was it '65 or '67?), but it was on a full-size Plymouth Fury, a type that S&M never campaigned as near as I can tell.

Now I'm learning, I hitherto only knew of the 'Cuda and the Superbird in S&M guise.

Jo-Han has a lot to offer for this thread though, what with their mixed and matched interiors in the USA Oldies series.

I never quite understood this listing on the big auction site. It shows a Ford on the top and a Chevy on the side and a Chevy in the box. Is this real?
