martinfan5 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) Well all know about comfort food, but what about comfort models, do you have one?, a model that you just really enjoy building, and makes you enjoy building again?I do think I have a few that could be considered comfort models. What says you? Edited July 25, 2017 by martinfan5
Dann Tier Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I would say that I have a few, Fujimi Porsche 911's, Fujimi Ford GT40's, Revell Cobra 427's, and Tamiya BMC Mini Coopers.
KWT Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) I have a couple.. not everyone's cup of tea though. Revell/Monogram 70 Chevelle, 79 Camaro, 71 GTX, hemi Cuda, Revell 69 Camaro, 67 Chevelle Edited July 25, 2017 by KWT
426 pack Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I would say the revell 68 dodge HEMI dart 2in1, revell 68 dodge charger R/T 2in1, revell 69 chevy nova 2in1 and revell 32 ford 5 window 2in1. I have 3 of each and have plan to get a cupel more.
martinfan5 Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 Awesome guysMine would have to be the Toyota GT86 kits, and NASCAR kits.
martinfan5 Posted July 26, 2017 Author Posted July 26, 2017 Yeah, at least Seven... , I see what you did there, and I am not shocked Mark.
DumpyDan Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 For me would likely be the 1939 Chevy Delivery and Coupe basically the same kit, Loads of fun and so many possibilities this is the kit I would want a case of on a deserted island.
mikemodeler Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 If I were to look at my completed builds, it would be a tie between the Revell snapper 63 Corvette convertible and snapper 69 Camaro. I have built at least 4 of each one and for some reason I can crank those out like nothing but struggle to finish glue versions of the same vehicles!
gtx6970 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 (edited) Probably one of, if not my favorite kits to build. Goes together without a fuss. Maybe not 100% accurate for the subject matter but it sure looks the part once finished. And thats comfort to me. The Revell 1964 Ford Thunderbolt Edited December 4, 2017 by gtx6970
waynehulsey Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 There's a few. The AMT Cobra, 65 Ford Galaxie and one probably a surprise to most people knowing me basically as a rivet counting replica stock guy: the AMT Garlits dragster (bet I've build a dozen of those over the years)
cobraman Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Probably a surprise but mine would be a Cobra kit. Any Cobra kit. : )
bogger44 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I guess I'd have to go with the Monogram/Revell '70 Mustang. I've built 5 over the years and think there's at least two more currently in the stash. I'd throw in Revell's 68-69 Dart kits as well.
Richard Bartrop Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 It would probably have to be Jo-han's Cadillac V-16s. A beautifully detailed kit of a beautiful subject, they go together painlessly and the speculators ignore them so they can be had for a reasonable sum.
vintagedragcrazy Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Revell 41' willys big john's, swc, ks Pittman great kit!!!vince
Snake45 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Yes. AMT '63-'67 Corvettes. I'll build 'em new, I'll restore cleanly built originals, and I'll strip and completely rebuild glue bombs. I only have 5 or 6 finished, but I must have more than two dozen of the things (NOT counting NIB '63 reissues for parts--prolly have another dozen of those) awaiting Snakification, with four or five under active construction at the moment. And the AMT '67-'68 Camaros. I've finished three and am getting in the mood to do another one very very soon.I'd also say the MPC (now AMT) '69 Camaro, but I just finished my fifth and probably last one of those. I don't think I'll be doing another one of THOSE. Five is enough. (Maybe.)
Ron Hamilton Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Revell '69 Camaro and the Revell '72 Hurst Olds Convertible.
Casey429 Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 This is a fun question! I'd have to say hands down, AMT's '53 Ford F100. I've built three of my own, restored a couple built-ups, and have enough parts to make up at least another or three. I couldn't help myself and picked up another when the latest issue came out. It's sitting off to the side of the bench right now, being built as a Marmon-Herrington 4x4. A close second would be the Moebius Bumpside Fords. I just finished my first one, and dove right into another. This was a long overlooked subject matter, and many others have praised it and I can totally see why. And even though we're not in the truck section, I'll even say that the reissued California Hauler has won me over. I could never bring myself to pay what originals were going for, and Round 2 hit a home run bringing that one back. I'm getting ready to build my second one, with plans for at least two more.
wayne swayze Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I love your choices Bill. I'd add the '34 Ford pickup to your list.
62rebel Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 The venerable AMT 49 Ford. I will never not be interested in building another one, and another...
Greg Myers Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I love your choices Bill. I'd add the '34 Ford pickup to your list.Another one, builds into a nice lowered chopped suicide front end hot rod
