That is Phil Slivers, in "It's a Mad,Mad,Mad,Mad World"

Ahhhh. Haven’t seen that since I was probably 10 years old. I’ll have to...

I like the car and scene.

IMHO, if you delete the lightning bolts, that car rocks!!! great wheels, grill, nice lines,  front bumper also can be deleted.

Why all the "hate" on this kit ? If you don't like the subject then don't buy it. I along with more than a few others would welcome it back on the shelves. My hope would be that they could include all of the custom parts also so you could build it anyway you want or just "mine" it for parts.  The movie version is a disservice to an otherwise good looking "Fat Fender" Ford.

This is what I think of the kit.

Have you ever built this kit? Not the Grease issue, obviously, but the last issue of it? It is a pretty nice kit.

I could see some disdain and disappointment of this kit if it was an awful kit to begin with, but, it is just being issued as a Movie tie in with new decals and some other parts, otherwise, it is a nice kit.

I am getting one for sure because I collect Show Biz type kits. And just be glad it was not cut up into the car in the final scene!

Yeah, it's not the IMC '48 Ford--its actually a pretty nice kit.   I already have the stock version, so I don't need another, not interested in the movie version.

I won't be buying it. Beside I have an earlier issue in my collection.

To quote Boris and Natasha, looking at a possible new house: "Is real eyesore. With little work, could be blight on whole neighborhood!"

Who knows, if this issue sells well, maybe Revell will retool it to do the special version..

Perhaps for those that cannot get past the lightning bolts, just show this kit, with chrome reverse wheels.
I don't have any convertibles of this, so I plan on buying it.

My knock is not on the base kit. It a very nice kit. My knock is this version. I just can't see it as boxed selling. Too many people will be turned off by the car's ugliness to not see the car under the lightning bolts. Its possible the ugliest movie car of all time. Why remind us of it?

Seriously?

If ugly decals were a deal breaker, the model kit industry would have never made it out of the 50s

Nothing  says "FIFTIES !" quite like a set of Firehawk radial RWL tyres !  WOOF ! That thing is hideous ---- ugly enough to scare the vultures off a gut cart !

Now that is funny! ?

I hated both versions of that Ford from that movie. The white one is almost acceptable. The lighting bolts are the biggest turnoff. The red one? Just see John's comment above. ?

So after what, 5 pages of hating on the Ford, can someone explain to me whats the problem with it? I genuinely don't know, like not as snark or anything, I've never been into pre-1965 stuff so it's never been on my radar, let alone Ford's from the 40s - what makes it so utterly hideous as a kit as a whole? It's not the decals and it's not necessarily that it's from the movie Grease, it's something about the modifications I'll take it, like the weird bucktooth smile grille?

... I'm too young and dumb to see it D:

It's been a while since I've seen Grease. The above photo shows the Mercury from the movie, and it has white lettered tires? Somehow that doesn't seem very "50's" to me. And those wheel covers? American Graffiti always feels true to the time period it represents, to me. Grease is a fun movie, but IMO it really did not do a good job representing the 50's. Back to the Future does a much better of capturing the feel of the 1950's. And again, don't get me wrong, I like the movie Grease. The automotive scenes in that movie have always turned me off.

I agree with you on the Grease movie cars. Who ever the advisor was had little or no knowledge of what the cars would have looked like in the time frame of the movie. The movie it's self was very entertaining some of the props used were lacking. Of course LNJ was enough to make someone leave and write bad checks but that's another matter. As for American Graffiti that was dead on in almost every level you can think of. I'm of a generation that can relate to that movie in every way and the cars were perfect .  I feel that at sometime in my high school years I knew each and everyone of the characters in that movie.
