They (Revell) WILL make a '57 Ranchero kit as per info I received from the late Bill Lastovich who worked for Revell. Just how soon, I couldn't tell you. I'll bet it'll be here before I finish all the kits I have in my stash, and give you odds on that as well.

A member at our MCCM meeting last night, claims that the '57 Ranchero is coming for sure, too. I'm excited.

I love the fantasy box art kits people are posting above. I too want most of the shown above done as real kits. The model companies seem to have lost steam in offering new releases back in the 70's. There many great cars they missed making models of. Hopefully, that will change in the near future. But, only if we show interest in such things by buying things like  Revell's '76 Torino kit. Looking at responses I'm seeing here, on the threads on that kit, I'm not holding my breath. Interest in the '76 Torino seems low.

What’s the status of the old MPC ‘70 - ‘73 Firebird/Trans Am molds? Could Round2 repair those tools?

They're the '79 kit now

Those annual kits were updated every year so the previous years could no longer be issued.

[BTW, the '77 Blackbird is a separate mold ]

OOOH Man! Wishin' and Hopin'!

I've mentioned this before, but I mentioned this one to Ed Sexton of Revell at the last NNL East since they've got the basics with the '75 Torino. He nodded his head in agreement, but time will tell if we ever see this T-Bird.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. If Revell decides to model a 78 Thunderbird they can use mine for all of the measuring they want! Young kids (sorta) have a thing for the big 70s boats. I've got the Thunderbird and my best friend has a 79 Lincoln Continental and a 75 Mercury Monarch. I'd love to see somebody make the Thunderbird along with a 85-94 Astro van. The Fujimi exists but it's a lame-o 2nd gen. Harder to stuff a V8 into a newer one. The early ones make a pretty nice hot rod with a 350 between the rails.

I'd need one urgently.

I'm certainly not a young kid, but count me in.

This is my current set of wheels:

Nice!

Now put some dents in it and you have Hutch his car ;)

BTW like the late '70s T-Bird too

You would think that Revell would put a 32 pickup out to go along with the rest of the 32 group. Maybe they will give us stock underpinnings. I also think that the 70's are an untapped market for plastic models. We have a few here and there but not enough.

Hi,

I heard AMT will be re-releasing the Donohue Javelin.

JK :)

Believe it or not, I have one. Unbuilt. Picked it up in a deal about a decade ago. Until it was in my hands, I never knew AMT did a Donohue Javelin. I thought that was a JoHan deal. No, it's not for sale or trade.

The AMT AMX (and Javelin AMX) kits were all re-boxed Jo-Han.  Jo-Han issued the 1970 version of the Donohue Trans-Am car, but put the '71 version in an AMT box.  AMT also sold a stock '74 annual kit.

Ok, so how about this one? A new tool 57 Chevy Nomad. Make it a 2n1 with the stock Nomad and the wheels/tires and decals to build this. Maybe even use the iconic box art, how great would that look on the shelves? Now, I know the box art may confuse the more seasoned buyers among us who may think it's the old tooling in the box. So maybe Revell could put the new tooling and just use similar styled boxart while still show it's all new tooling inside. Even without the boxart, lets see that new tool 57 Nomad!

Yes, we have waited long enough, we need a new 1957 Nomad.

Hi,

Well your kit is worth major bucks.  And I think its a darn nice looking kit as well.

It might be worth major bucks if someone hadn't used the box as a paint stand for something. The entire main box art is now gloss white enamel. The sides and ends are pretty much intact, though.

Hi,

There is an empty very clean looking box on eBay for ~$15;

10 or so years ago, I bought off ebay an Amt 67 Cougar with a water damaged (read completely destroyed)  box, and over the years I was able to obtain a good box and instruction sheet, the only thing still missing is a decal sheet, but I'm sure that somewhere down the road I will find one....when? not important, the chase is better then the catch ;)

Boxes are usually not too hard to find, as kits often get built. An AMT box for a Trans Am Javelin - tougher for sure. Nice kit to have either way!

Would be nice

If your stash is anything like mine we could start building a kit every other day and couldn't get them all built in my lifetime.

I'd go for one of those! Since they built a new replica of the original used in the art work for the original kit, a new release of the original kit (with the up to date improvements) would only be right.
