Chuck Most Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 But seriously, even though I'd very much prefer the '82-up design, I'd love to see this one come back.

CapSat 6 Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 (edited) True story- I DID ride in the back of a Subaru Brat once. ONCE! I was something like 13 years old. A friend of mine had a Dad that was into esoteric Japanese built cars back then. He had an Isuzu Trooper, a Subaru 4x4 wagon, and at one point, he had a Brat. One Saturday, we decided to go to a mall about 12 miles away. Mark (the dad) decided we would take his new Brat. His wife was going too, so that meant... Walt (the friend) and I would ride in the back. In those jumpseats. I think there were seatbelts, I don’t remember. In a serious wreck, I doubt they would have done any good anyway. The ride was partially on 55 MPH divided highway. And- oh yeah- it rained. I mean- it was a torrential downpour! When we got to the mall, Walt and I were completely soaked, but at least we were still alive. Edited February 4, 2018 by CapSat 6 Speeling (ha ha!)
Leonidas Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 I used to have a 1990 1:1 of these just like the one below...Of course being in Australia we called them Subaru Brumby. Loved that little truck. Damned thing would go anywhere.

No offense, but kind of a lame bit of humor. (I'm assuming you were going for humor?) A little funny the more I think about it. But.....

I think this kit was out only the one time. I wonder if there is some problem since it was tooled up when Lesney was in control of AMT? Or licensing issues with Subaru? Or what? I'd love to see this one come back. Scott and all...apparently it is on their radar screen....(from what I understand, no definitive plans at this time, but as I just said, it is on their radar screen).....TIM Edited February 6, 2018 by tim boyd

We saw a lot of BRAT's here in their heyday, local dealer Bob Rohrmann sold a bunch of them. Art

peteski Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 (edited) To add to the useless but amusing info, brat in Polish means brother. Also, the actual name for those German sausages is bratwurst - brat is just a shortened word (typically done by Americans). Edited February 7, 2018 by peteski
