Still slicing and dicing

About a year ago, I decided to clean up my workspace. I hate cleaning, so I just threw all my tools and stuff in boxes and now I don't know where anything is. it's not cold in my basement but cool enough that I didn't feel like looking and setting my desk back up for models, I got the bug about a month or two ago to work on something. These are a few of my recent victims, whether any of them will get finished is another story.

911 Turbo.

Chopped, reworked the nose and tail to unclutter them and smooth them out.

66 Mustang GT.

Chopped, removed B pillars, raised wheelwells, shortened rear 1/4", shortened nose 1/8", Side scoops deepened and opened.

Plymouth Prowler.

 36 Ford roof (thanks to Dr. Kerry), filled headlight panels, removed rear fenders, moved front suspension forward, reworked the flared bottom of body to tuck it in, full underbody pan.

70 Impala.

Reworked roof to make a fastback, rear side windows reshaped, rear window made taller.

63 Cobra.

Tapered narrowing of the body, wheelwells filled, wedge extension of the body to make the back taller.

33 Willys S.D.

Top wedge sectioned, back wedge shortened, fenders raised, fronts reshaped, rears widened and extended.

5? Ford Pick Up.

Front fenders raised to level out the hump of the hood, bed made from nose of another Pick Up.

Let's see who can recognize this one.

Rear wheelwells moved forward 5/16" then widened 3/16" Front wheelwells moved forward 3/16", angle chop, reworked tailight panel, reworked grille and headlights, scratch built teardrop hood scoop.

I like the '70 Impala; and with the side windows (quarter windows) reshaped like that I can see it being a 'phantom' precursor to the '77-'79 Impala/Caprice. Giving it an aerocoupe back window instead of a fastback roof line might balance things out better and not make it look top heavy towards the rear........if it bothers you. I like your work! Now I want to try this out and see what it would look like!

Well it didn't take long to ID the Scrambler.

Yup, still got all my fingers.

Yes the tail end of the Impala is a bit heavy, I usually like my rockers on the ground, but that really made it too heavy. If I raise the back up a bit exposing more of the wheel and tire it helps. It was a lot of work getting the back window done so I'm leaving it, I might try to extend the rear side windows a bit more to lighten it up a little.

 

Still using the same saw blade and it would help if I could find my P.E. saws and my panel line tool.

Killer work on them all. Chopping is such tedious work, I can't imagine doing all those at the same time.

Brave work!  Slicing and dicing is so much fun that I just can't force myself to finish all the little details because a new S&D idea has enthralled me.

I almost forgot one. My favorite kit of all time is the Silhouette. I made one into a boat last year and started to modify the trailer for it. I've always wanted to make a truck out of one and finally figured out how to do it.

The body has been raised by adding 3/16" to both the top and bottom, the back is the taillight panel from a Deora, the center of the front is actually the back of the Silhouette. I plan to make it rear engined. The trailer has been stretched  using two for the bottom half and Evergreen sheet on the top half, the fenders are scratchbuilt and the frame is made out of Evergreen rectangle rod. I filled the wheelwells and made a tunnel for the bottom of the boat along with cutting the center of the front to make the picklefork, the outboard is a resin piece I found on ebay.

These are all super cool. I like the chopped Porsche, hard-topped Prowler, and Willys panel in particular.  Definitely some aggressive customizing, to excellent effect! I'd love to see some of these get built up.

*Edit* I missed the Silhouette-truck. That thing is awesome!! Very creative.

I wish I could take credit for that. Do a search for Pacer pickup. You should run across the coolest looking 1:1 blue Pacer P.U., that was the inspiration for my version. I wish the wagon version was repopped when I started mine, it would have saved a lot of work on the back.

Why would anyone ruin a perfectly good model?  

More power to anyone who manages to complete such imaginative work!  I know how frustrating it is, to have way more ideas, than time.  I have at least two subjects that *need to* get started, but have three that are waiting for me to finish.  This MINI was started and finished in a month, so I know it's possible.
