Corvette Grand Sport Roadster

My take on George Wintersteen's GS roadster chassis 002.  Kit from Accurate Miniatures, basic resin transkit body bought of Ebay abut 8 years ago (when Oz dollar had parity), Vintage Racing Miniatures decals (the BEST!!), Model Car Garage photo etch detail set and my own wheels and vacformed glass.  Painted with auto acrylic.  Was a fun build but in hindsight could do better, should have bought and additional body and built the prototype as well as the transkit includes the head rest.

Thanks for looking.

Great work! This is a little known or forgotten version of the GS. According to legend, Wintersteen bought the car in coupe form from Roger Penske at Nassau in 1964. Penske had just won the Tourist Trophy race with it, the only international win for a Grand Sport. The only problem was, Penske did not own the car; Jim Hall did.

Is this the Historic Racing Miniature trans- kit? Doesn't appear to be.

Hi AFX, no it isn't, it's just a basic transkit I found on eBay around 8 years ago.  No glass and basic Sunoco decals.

Great model!  The only thing I would add is some flat black in the ends of the exhaust pipes.  Those wheels are very cool.

Tks guys.  Bruce, that was the first thing I did after reviewing the post!!?
