absmiami Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 great stuff - always was fascinated by the wishbone chass design ... great engineering - just don't get T-boned by something bigger and heavier ... 1
David G. Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 The work you've done on the chassis looks rock-solid Dann. It looks like it's going to have a killer stance! David G.

And, EVERYTHING is bigger and heavier. Actually, Colin Chapman was quite clever with his frame design, protecting it from accident damage by placing the driver and/or passenger between it and any potential side impact. ? 1
Bainford Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Dann, that chassis looks the business. Very nice work there. 1
Dann Tier Posted December 14, 2024 Author Posted December 14, 2024 Thanks for the kind comments everyone. I'm only sorry that it took so long to respond. I've started this build up again, and thats how i found out about your comments. Thanks much for following! After test fitting the painted body over the interior tub, i cracked one of the A pillars. Its okay. I repaired it, and the whole body will get a respray. The door handles will be corrected as well at this time. Not sure how many of you know this, but the door release buttons are on the wrong sides of the handles. Thanks for following! 1
David G. Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Hey, welcome back Dann! I look forward to seeing more of your work. David G.
Funkychiken Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Great to hear you are back at the bench Dann, I'm sure that there is more than 1 build on hold that we're all waiting for! 1

Thanks Atin! Good to hear from you as well! I think i had 19 on the go when i stopped building a year and a half ago. I've decided to cut it waaay back for now. I have a BMC Mini, Lamborghini Miura, the Invader, and a McLaren F1 GTR that are aii in paint, and are easiest to finish that will be worked on first this year along with this Lotus. I will also be working on my Countach, Airfix Goldfinger DB-5, as well as my Reinart Blitzkrieg....sooo....8 until they are finished.....Dangit....theres also my 1973 Pantera thats been painted too.....i guess 9. 2
Rich Chernosky Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Dann...soooo nice to see this project back on the bench. And nice to see you back as well. A year and a half since you stopped....its more like 2yrs on this one. But don't fret....I haven't touched mine either. Good things take awhile. Can't tell you how many projects I have that are in paint just waiting to be finished. Got one on the bench right now that was painted in 03. Paint might be cured by now...ya think. 1

Thank you sooo much for the encouragement....we all need it sometimes. Its good to be back. If the paint is enamel, i'm not so sure its cured yet lol.
Dann Tier Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 (edited) Hello everyone. My wife told me that sometimes BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH happens when building models, but its only because its bringing things to light that needed to be addressed. This sure was the case here. As well as a white Countach, this Lotus is my nemesis. Whilst this is only my second attempt at this kit, i've wasted 16 Fujimi Countach kits. I digress...Apart from the A-pillar crack, I've noticed a few very tiny areas that needed to be filled and blended. But worse than that, i made my own door handles, then noticed that not only were they molded backwards on the kit before i shaved them off, but my dumb___ remade them backwards as well. I also need to scribe a couple more seams that need more definition. -Photo 1; Here you can see the A-pillar break. I also decided to test different shades of panel liner. Dont like any of them...still looks like a coloring book picture. At least i get to start off with primer again. -Photo 2; This is where the button/lock should be. Wonder if i'm the only one who screwed this pooch?... -Photo 3 & 4; If you plan on taking the body on-and-off like me, save yourself ALOT of potential problems, and just cut off these areas that stick out on the tub -they wont be missed. At the same time i decided to feather out flat spots in the fender wells. The whole interior assembly fits WAAAY easier now. Edited January 7 by Dann Tier 1
Bainford Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Another one I am glad to see back on the bench. Always to get a dose of Lotus on the forum.

Pics will be posted when ready. 1
