curt raitz Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 (edited) The 1969 Camaro ZL-1, one of the first "Muscle Cars". Built from Revell's excellent kit #85-4056. This kit dang near fell together on it's own. Modifications included opening the front grill, AMT Goodyear "Polyglas GT" big 'n' little tires, Model Car Garage Detail Set MCG-2068, plug wires and fuel lines. Paint is Model Master No.28108 Hugger Orange covered with multiple coats of No.28319 Ultra Gloss Clearcoat. Thanx for looking... Edited July 13, 2018 by curt raitz text edit
Snake45 Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 Very nice model, but it's not "one of the first muscle cars." Not even close.
kelson Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Nice work!,how did you open the grill?, it's the next kit i'm building and the grill looks like it would be pretty frail after.
DumpyDan Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 That is a beauty, the red just pops. Looks real good Curtis
NYLIBUD Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Very nice job.Looks great.Certainly better than the 2018 ZL1.

I just kept grinding away with the dremel, and it is really fragile. I did have to do a little re-inforcing along the way.

TooOld Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Great looking ZL-1 , Nicely detailed and the perfect color ! And Snake is right . . . the "Muscle" car started way back in '64 with the GTO .

I believe the Camaro/Mustang/Cuda body size was called a "Pony Car" (although not very often).

BTW, I've noticed in real car mags that Hugger Orange often photographs on the reddish side. If you see a '69 Camaro in a magazine and you can't tell if it's Hugger Orange or bright red, it's Hugger Orange. '69 Chevy Garnet Red is notably darker, about like Testor #4 Dark Red.
bbowser Posted July 14, 2018 Posted July 14, 2018 Can't hide from the cops in that! Love the dog dishes.
majel Posted July 16, 2018 Posted July 16, 2018 Great looking model Curt, the '69 is a beautiful car!
