Here is an article on Beswick's Comet from June 1965 Super Stock Magazine I had saved in my files for future reference.

Those are original Mercury Cammer valve covers with a FoMoCo part number cast into them. The kit valve covers without the Ford logo are correct.

The car in that picture is Ohio George Montgomery's Malco 33 Willys, he appearently changed to valve covers with the Ford logo later.8a3c3aa62b_md.jpeg.1df359f9f4a6e758ffe2f9b9b9cb94a6.jpeg

I'm not the most observant person, and the recent book about George Montgomery isn't the greatest.  But I spotted at least three different styles of cam covers among the photos in that book.

Ive no real interest in the stock version.

the drag car on the other hand  is definitely on my to get list. And my to get list has become extremely selective the past few years

Stock versions are great for trading fodder! That is the only reason I buy them.

I want to put the cammer in a stock version, to make a Street Sleeper. Now, I have to get both kits..........................

I had really high hopes for the SOHC in this kit. Better than AMT/MPC but still not there.

I just hope those breathers aren't molded in. That would not be cool.

But I have these so I can't really complain. ;)

I believe that several of those cars from that era ran carburetors and then switched to injectors just like Phil Bonner's Daddy Warbucks Falcon and Mustang cars

The car portrayed in this kit is the Cyclone provided by Lincoln-Mercury to its factory teams. They were built to the rules for A/FX at the time and were carbureted with only small changes to the wheelbase. This kit is a pretty accurate representation. The main shortcoming I see in this kit is the lack of air ducting on the underside of the hood that brought air to the carbs from the scoops. It also would have been nice to have the oil filler caps as separate pieces. They did a pretty good job of capturing the front suspension setup, moving the spring and shock towers to the outer side of the engine compartment as shown in the article that Force posted. Good job, that picture showing the front suspension is a great catch, and one I had never seen. These cars went through a lot of changes to remain competitive with their opposites in the Mopar camp. Those that participated in the match race circuit did even more to their cars due to the much higher winnings and thats where you see a lot of the variations such as blowers, nitro, injection, altered wheelbases and suspensions. Crazy when you think that only a year went by before Nicholson's fiberglass body/tube frame Comet Eliminator totally changed the game!
