It will be available soon.

That's a real surprise to me because it's that is the most interesting AMT Buick Riviera.

Closest to the '63 Riviera and looks mostly the same. The '66 was a restyle that to me was a toning down of the original look.

Looks like it will have the George Barris customizing parts which have been absent from AMT kits for awhile.

Looks like AMT has been on a GM streak lately. Came out with the 62 Electra and the 65 Grand Prix.

Way to go AMT!

Here is a very cool picture. Might be a 63 or 64. Makes the car look sporty.

EVERY issue of that kit had all the same custom parts. This one is no exception, just another reissue with new decals and tires.

I'll take one, or so. Last time it was issued and I bought one, it seemed like it was cursed, had a string of bad luck with and with it around and ended up tossing it in the dumpster at work figuring I'd get another one........guess it's time now!

I sure hope it's not molded in that nasty yellow plastic like the one I have now! I'm sure it won't be.............that stuff can be brutal to paint over if one's not familiar with how to deal with it.

So long as it's not that bright yellow that the Revell Snap New Beetles were molded in, I shot Duplicolor White Sandable Primer on it and that came out looking like a block of butter in the shape of a New Beetle!

This would be a 1963, without the small standup hood ornament that showed up for 1964.

Those yellow one (AMT/Ertl reissue) usually had thick/runny/dull/wrinkly plating too.  I probably had three or four of those over the years; all of mine did.  I think I've got one left, if I ever get to it I'll just paint it yellow and stick the "airport limousine" decals on from the Che Riviera "highjacking" issue...

I believe there was one reissue that was only the stock parts.  But, all the others included the custom  parts as far as I know

Nope, one issue included only custom parts (no stock bumpers).  And even then, only one of the two custom versions was included in that issue (Barris Cruisin' USA, the one with the rub-on graphics and sheet of stick-on iridescent material).

There was a lot of innovation at GM in 60-63 Kennedy era.

The Corvair, Stingray, Riviera and the Tempest with the transaxle.

I would get the kit because it is same body run as '63 and represents that era.

Along with 62 Buick Electra and 62 421 Bonneville (have).

Smart set took notice. Here's pic. That's William Shatner's Corvette in background.

I picked up an unbuilt '63 riviera kit recently.  Speaking of great design, why hasn't AMT or Revell or Moebius done the '63 Grand Prix yet?

That would be in order. They don't really make new kits, they don't exist anymore, and they would need 3-5 variants to make the tooling viable financially.

The first-gen Riv was one of the most influential styles of the '60s. Its front fender pods could still be seen as late as the '72 Nova. And they still looked good.

That was one of Bill Mitchell's best designs! I thought I read an interview of him once where he said that one of the purposes in designing that car was to make a complete break from the excesses of the '50's. Obviously no fins, very little chrome, and very neat and tidy lines.

I take it that Shatner's 'Vette next to the Riv is a '63 or a '64? Hard to tell, but one clue are those side 'vents'.

That's about the size of it these days. Sad but true.

I keep saying the next frontier is 3D printing. I stand by my notion that one day this will become mainstream, and we won't have to ask if X company will make this or that. ;)

Shatner's Vette was a '64, if I recall the information from Shatner's book on Star Trek correctly. The pic in the book shows the car running steelies with dog dishes.
