64SS350 Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 This morning both bodies are officially fitted to their respective chassis. Added detail to firewall areas.
TarheelRick Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Some amazing builds. Love to watch your work.
TransAmMike Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Looking great Karl on this unusual car!!?
64SS350 Posted January 15, 2021 Author Posted January 15, 2021 I believe both bodies are ready, some light coats of spot primer, seal primer, a wet sand, then shooting some color on the insides of the interiors and front clips.
Mattilacken Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 Looking realy good! I have been following along al the way but missed some where. was't it 3 you where building from the beginning?
64SS350 Posted January 15, 2021 Author Posted January 15, 2021 Thanks to all. Yes, hence the title....x3. scroll back to see #1 done I believe around may 2019.
Dave72 Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 Very nice builds! Paint, details, and decals look great!
64SS350 Posted January 30, 2021 Author Posted January 30, 2021 Had/have some back peddling to do, forgot a detail on the firewall, plus tweaking the front clips to fit and tilt. Here's one...
Scott8950 Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 awesome work and probably one of the best gassers I've seen on here. nice job
64SS350 Posted February 14, 2021 Author Posted February 14, 2021 Ok, more backpedaling. While fitting the second front clip, realized some how the axel was too far forward. Refitted the whole front axel and repainted the entire chassis to look uniform. Finished one intake so far.
doorsovdoon Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Very nice work, these are going to look great. Beautiful looking bodies for a gasser.
64SS350 Posted March 5, 2021 Author Posted March 5, 2021 Engines are 99% , I found my source of decals for the overflow oil cans, so now I can finish those. I used the same line for gas as before, if I find more, I will stock up! This is an old phone line from my house, it has a solid core wire. Simply pull the wire, and it slips beautifully over a .021 straight pin with no glue!
64SS350 Posted March 11, 2021 Author Posted March 11, 2021 Overflow oil cans done! Need to locate and fit 2nd front clip, and I will finish priming. Finally, not quite, but almost ready for some paint!
Dann Tier Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Glad you are back to these!....they are looking FANTASTIC!!!!!
64SS350 Posted April 4, 2021 Author Posted April 4, 2021 Shot some color on the underside of the bodies and front clips last week. Finished the headlight bezels. Ugly resin ones compared to more realistic and proportionate aluminum. Happy Resurrection Sunday! Karl
64SS350 Posted April 11, 2021 Author Posted April 11, 2021 Finally got some color on the bodies, using base coat/clear coat.
64SS350 Posted May 24, 2021 Author Posted May 24, 2021 Not a lot to show right now, I cleared the front clip underside, let it sit for a few weeks (while finishing details of our wedding...), and am now wet sanding both bodies. Thanks for watching!
64SS350 Posted June 8, 2021 Author Posted June 8, 2021 Some pics of one cleared and polished body. I still see some polishing marks, will have to go over it a bit more. 1
ChrisBcritter Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Love these old compact gassers! Karl, you're probably going to hate me for pointing it out so late, but if I ever tackle one of these bodies, here's my Job 1: Fix Jo-Han's error and relocate the B-pillars and door jamb back at least 1/8". Quickie 'shop: That's just the OCD in me, though. You've done a terrific job x3!

Actually the whole section between the B and C pillars is a bit too long. So a body sectioning would be in order to make it correct, but I would have to take measurements from the 1:1 to verify.
