Great looking build on this gasser Vette... As for the rear shackles I think that most sanctioning bodies would not allow them.

Last night I checked the NHRA 1966 rulebook, the Modified Production and Gasser sections, as well as the generic Safety regulations at the back of the book. No ban on extended shackles at that time, though of course they might have banned them later. I'm going for somewhere in the 1965-67 timeframe with this build. B)

I’m going for the trifecta! One month the get this one done. I whacked the roof off some time ago. I recently saw the car I had in mind on Musclecar of the Week again. I figure while I am in an Oldsmobile kind of mood, I should bang this one out. It’s going to be tight getting it done in one month! I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!

Just a quick update on the junior fuel dragster. I got the oiling system done (except for mounting the filter/bracket to the chassis, via the pictured "u-bolt.). Above the oil pan sump, you can see the two small white tabs that are the front motor plate tabs. Added bolts to the pan rails from Plastruct .020" and .030" hex rod. I got the seat padded. I'm still deciding what to "upholster" it with. I'll use either craft tissue or kitchen parchment, unless i can find a textured scrapbooking paper that I like, to create a patterned seat. The harnesses are simply fed beneath the seat, and are only installed, to make sure I could get them through the slots, easily.

Embarrassed to say I got a full scale project two weeks ago.  Will be lucky to get the VW done before Desert Scale Classic.  Work is picking up.  But who knows.....

The major mods to the 69 Hurst Olds convertible body are complete! I’m liking the way it looks so far!

I’m using the ‘72 Indianapolis Olds convertible as a donor kit. I worked from the front of the car to the back. Reason being, the windshield dictates were the up-top will live. The underside of the cowl has mounting pins for the windshield.

Next I narrowed the rear seat. For now the interior is mocked up with the ‘72 side panels.

Windshield temporarily mounted.

With the up-top in place, I could get a feel for where the tulip panel would live.

Here it is all trimmed for installation.

I have a closet FULL of projects like this. Some well over 10 years old or better. I'm in on this just so I can get 'closer' on some of these dead projects.

I first have to finish my entry for our local clubs show the 2nd week in April. I haven't entered anything in well over 3 years, I'd really like to finish this one. I'll be 'killing 2 birds with 1 stone' Theme and hopefully qhich ever class I enter it in.

Thanks for letting me ramble. Sorry in advance if it were to much.

Just to clarify the build guidelines:  Post a START pic (where the stalled project was when you restarted it) and a DONE! pic (self-explanatory) when it's finished. You can post work in progress pics in this thread if you want, or start a separate WIP thread on your build if you'd prefer.

Hotrodblder, it's not too late to get in on this round--you still have the whole month of March. Just post a Start pic of your project and declare that you're in, and will try to GITTER DONE by March 31, and you're in! B)

Ok, I will have to withdraw then because I am not able to multitask when it comes to model projects and the one I'm working on now has to be done by the second week of April. I'll just have to watch and see if you hold another one like this.

No problem. I misunderstood your original post, thought you were completing a stalled project for your club show entry. We might be doing this again--it there's enough interest, we might be doing them quarterly. We'll see at the end of March if there's any interest in continuing this series. Good luck with your project and with your show! B)

It's beginning to look a lot like a dragster! Front and rear axles are mounted. Brake handle re-installed. Goodyears replaced with M&Hs, even though I like the Blue Streaks, better. Steering shaft support is installed with the third member. I also drilled the scratched front wheel, so it can mount to the spindle. I think I just have a few things to mop up, before I can install the rest of the driveline (engine, bellhousing, torque tube). Oh! This is SO getting done!

I'm loving everyone's work. Thanks for sharing. I am back to work on my Mustang although I never really stopped. I have just been pecking away at it over the last few weeks as I finish my R34.

Last night I started on the suspension in earnest. I also got all of the body work done and quite a bit of the work on the hood completed. The hood edge at the windshield needed reshaped and I got that finished. Got another quick coat of paint on it to see where it's at.

Ok, I'm in if it is ok to join now.
I built this bajabug some 3-4 years ago and it was almost 100% complete and I did show it at the Norwegian Challenge show but I was never quite happy with it.
IMG_7259.jpg
Now, I got a set of 4-lug slot mags from Aoshima and some better tires and I have managed to pry it apart without to much brakage. The body has already gone in to the brakefluid and it will recive a new paintjob. Not that the black with skulls was bad, it just was not what I wanted to do. Hopefully I will get the details better done this time around.
The basis for the build was the Polar Lights kit, not a bad kit in itself.
