Hard to tell, but it looks like the kit is the same hot mess it's been since the '80s reissues. You CAN make a nice Nova out of it, but it takes a LOT of careful work.

This kit is still a parts mine, though. I have a couple in the stash but (sigh) will probably buy another one.

Those slicks have been in other Round2 Kits. And the choice of street tires is awful! Notice you don't get any pad printed tires other than the slicks.  This kit should have had a set of the tires from the 68 Camaro kit from a couple years ago. This was definitely a "B Team" production. Sad, really, but the tooling is getting old & worn out, and after the Silver Screen, Beverly Hills Cop version Round2 Has gone back to well again. Easy Money for them, and the nostalgia box art will sell lots of them. I'll spring for one, as a parts kit, and be glad for the decals.

Wonder if the C-Pillar area left to right is symmetrical now, cuz the kit I have shows a serious misalignment of the side cavities to the roof cavity.

I can't make it out on the video, only see big parting lines.

I saw this kit, along with the 70 Chevelle in a big box of stuff at Hobby Lobby, ready to be put on the shelf. I've been back there a few times since then, and there is no sign of either kit anywhere, and no spot on the shelves for them. They must have only gotten 1 of each.

That whole area, both sides, has been a mess in all the reissues, as well as the window frames on the door.

And then the lower edge of the quarter windows is wrong, too--too rounded. It's like somewhere between the '68-'72 shape and the '73-'74 shape. Revell got this area right.

Is this issue molded in black?  The one I looked at says "molded in white" on the box bottom...

Molded in black...same old, same old.   Pad printed slicks and maybe decals updated.   I like the retro box art, plan to use this one for parts.

I don't need another one, especially if it's molded in black.  The original AMT company didn't mold it in black, only Lesney and Ertl (later production in this same box).

Stupid question:  Wouldn't the model companies save a lot of money if they only molded in white?  I get why they mold some of them in color - either to drive a "limited run" or for snappers and so forth so kids will buy them.  But overall wouldn't it be cheaper/easier for them if they didn't for the main kits?

I doubt if it costs much more, probably negligible difference.

Certain colors, such as red do cost more. Learned that from building box art models for AMT/Ertl.

I have built a few of these over the years and all came out pretty decent. Yes, it has it's issues, but in my eye looks good. I only pick on new tools.

I will get another because I have been building some Saturday night stock car type of builds recently and this will fit right in there. Besides, I want to support R2 with their reissue program. Have my hands on a slew of old kits now that could only be found on ebay for stupid money

Come on,this kit was garbage when it first came out years ago..And ever re-release since, has also been garbage.Just my opinion. Why bother with such a lousy kit, especially with all the other Nova kits out there, like Super Nova kit 2,in 1..The COPO Nova, and the Yenko kit.

NovaCane decals would've been nice but I do like the other choice for the Drag car name INNOVATOR... and the OLD PRO door decal is just nostalgic... I have built the Old Pro in many colors. Here is the Revell car with The Old Pro box art.

Started with a '72 Nova "Old Pro" body, sanded off all the trim. Removed the inner wheelwells, glued the fenders and hood together. Put it on a Polar lights chassis with interior tin. Added Jungle Jim decals. Turned out better than I expected.

Years ago I used the wheels and engine/trans from an MPC C3 Vette, and modified/added a few trim bits to an Old Pro and had myself a '69 SS396.

Quite lovely Nova there , Mike ! What colour is that ? Is it available in aerosol ( I try to avoid air brushing as much as possible ) ?

It's an old Testors rattle can color that I think is long-obsolete;  Deep Gold Pearl in the old Car Colors line.  I decanted it though and used the airbrush....much better results than applying Testors enamels straight from the can.

Probably because it looks more like a Nova than the Revell kit does.

It definitely does in certain areas. In others, not so much....
