fivesuns Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I need to go back and read your WIP build because I just ordered this kit. I could only aspire to get close to your quality of build. Great job.

Don't you love/hate it when a model fights you tooth and nail and the finished product ends up so nice that nobody would believe it took some serious work/pain to get there? I agree, it was worth the pain!
ismaelg Posted January 12, 2019 Author Posted January 12, 2019 Hello, Unfortunately my dad has been in the hospital for a few days. His asthma is bothering him. Doctors say he is much better now but will most likely be a couple more days. So I took the oportunity to bring him the '51 to cheer him up. He LOVED it! I told him I'd take it back until he was released as an incentive ? The Dr. (pneumologist) came to check on him. Saw the model and loved it! We ended up talking cars for a while. I even showed him this forum. I also brought him a 1/18 diecast I fixed for him. A convertible that rolled over and landed upside down. Send your good wishes to my dad and I'll show him this thread. Not much to do in a hospital anyways. 2
Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 This one looks amazing!! Your Corvettes look great too, but those cars have no appeal to me (not only Corvettes, I'm not into sports cars in general). By other hand, a '51 bel Air does!!!

Just talked to him over the phone and almost blew it mentioning this thread Bill, it is funny: papá means father, papa means potato and El Papa means the Pope I seem to recall an actual news story, from many years ago, where a T-shirt vendor made the same mistake in spelling, and ended up with lots of unsalable merchandise bearing the message "I saw the potato!" An excellent job on completing a great looking shelf build. I've always liked the real car, but I sold the kits when I realized the difficulty in making a good looking build from the kit contents.
espo Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 Fine thing you have done for your father. Wish him well soon.
ewetwo Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 Hope your dad has a speedy recovery. Nice build.
Tom Geiger Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 I'm happy to see your father likes the model! Now let's pray he gets well enough to come home from the hospital to enjoy it!
geewhiz Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 Beautiful model, Ismaelg!!! I love the pic of you and your dad with the model. Looks like he's very proud of you.

slusher Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 Beautiful Chevy and a wonderful gift for your dad….
Zippi Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 That is just so kewl. I'll bet your Dad really enjoyed you bringing the model to the hospital for him to see that beauty. Very nice 51 Chevy.
Zippi Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 I think I have the tailgate lined up with the chrome trim on the top of the bed and all 4 taillights line up pretty good. I'm locking it all in place.
