Pico Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Early Ferrari? This is almost as early as you can get.
89AKurt Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I happen to know who owns #001 Ferrari. He was living back east at the time he saw an ad in the paper, it was a basket case. Found the engine in South America. Experts argued about it's authenticity, until he brought it to a show. It's in unrestored condition, so it's not sexy enough to be all over every Ferrari blog, we see the cycle fender version. If I recall, "C" is part of the serial number. He took me for a short ride around the neighborhood. These pictures are at a Prescott Antique Auto Club in 2008, that's me behind the wheel. Chris, The Scott Kercher model I posted with the long nose was introduced in 1966 I think, the kit instructions do not give a date. Here is a good reference with photos of one that just sold at Sotheby's. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/AM18/Amelia-Island/lots/r0041-1966-ferrari-275-gtb-by-scaglietti/630212 Gary

I know I know they are 1/43 scale are just need an hour to complete (windshield and some trim) but PM if anyone of you Ferrari guys are interested in these factory painted kits. I promise not to post pictures of the Ford's that beat Ferrari at Lemans etc.
Gramps46 Posted March 15, 2019 Author Posted March 15, 2019 We have been remiss in not mentioning Alex's Italian Horses Ferrari Data Base of 1/24 Ferrari kits, check it out: http://www.italianhorses.net/DB/db.htm
Pico Posted April 20, 2019 Posted April 20, 2019 Work in progress in computer, 1951 Ferrari 340 America - 1951 MM winner, to be 3d printed.
Pico Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 Produced by Umi Modelwerks about 25 years ago, 1949 Ferrari 166MM. Ferrari's first le Mans winner.
Gramps46 Posted May 19, 2019 Author Posted May 19, 2019 The Umi 166MM was far ahead of anything else at the time. I waited in line to get one. Thanks for posting Pico.
dino246gt Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 I have this rare kit in 1/14th scale, with amazing detail, yet to be built though. I've had it for almost 20 years!

Greg Wann Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 http://barchetta3500.com/ I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have a question about this Maserati clone. Is it possible from using the photos on this site if this car can be 3D printed into a 1:25 scale parts for master parts. I see I can get a 1:43 diecast or a 1:18 diecast. I would really prefer 1:25/1:24 scaled parts for molds.
Straightliner59 Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Now, if I just had a "gleaming alloy air-car" to go with that Barchetta...

I see no reason to make a model of the clone.

Gramps46 Posted June 2, 2019 Author Posted June 2, 2019 Super Classics Ferraris Here are some real oldies (1992) with an interesting history. Peter Wright in the UK created some early Ferrari bodies in 1/24th scale and sold them with the brand name of Super Classics. He sent the body masters to California to John Johnson (Teapot Graphics) who borrowed a vacuum forming machine from Mike Quarterman (UMI Modelwerkes) and pulled the bodies for Peter. Mike created a resin V12 with gearbox, pretty nice by the way, what appear to be brake drums, and a sheet of miscellaneous parts. Some of the kits included Herb Deeks PE wheels and tires. The kits pictured here are a 166 Spider Corsa and a 125 F1 from the Monza race of 1949.

MrObsessive Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I just noticed this thread. I can vouch for Norm's EXCELLENT V-12 engines as I've built a couple.............. My first attempt---- I built this in '96(?) in a 250 GTO. My second one built a couple years later......this one in a 250 GT SWB. I have another one of Norm's V-12's-----someday it's to go into a 250 GT SWB California Spyder. I also have MFH's Ferrari 330 LMB, that was a holy grail of mine among other Ferrari's. Now just the time to build it among other projects.

I don't have his latest catalog, but last I knew he wasn't making them. IIRC, I got the last engine from him a few years ago as Norm made it for my by "special request" since I see him fairly regularly at the club meetings. If you'd like one, perhaps you can drop him a line? His email address is: ReplMinCoMd@aol.com
