Finally gave in and ordered a red Marathon 69 Chevelle direct from First Gear.   The shipping box was killed, leading to the car box being killed.   I emailed them - still waiting for reply to that.  But I called and got a lady named Chris on the phone.   She offered to send an outer box, but the outer and inner box was killed and I did pay full asking price.   When I emailed her photos, she called back and told me they would be sending me a whole new box and associated inner parts.   They get kudos, props, whatever, for that.  We've seen this one before in a thread here.  No more discussion needed, really.  Nice car.  Nicest 69 Chevelle replica on the market right now, plastic or diecast?   And I do work for Marathon, so it looks good in my office.

Also got a Wix Power Wagon by Ertl.  Very dusty and missing the spare.  Didn't see that in the photos.  But was cheap enough.

Also not pictured yet, is a First Gear 73 Ford F100.   I bought it sight unseen but listed with original box.  Well, it's pretty ugly color in blue over gray.   I'll get some photos over the weekend and maybe we can discuss how to fix it?  Looks like a Ford tractor color scheme and these are known to be decorated.   I wish it were sky blue, but would need a couple body decals.  The replica itself is very nice though and the grill is first rate I think.   There are like 3 on ebay and no where near as cheap as I got this one with shipping.

Sweet Chevelle! Only reason I don't have one is that I already have two AMT '69 Chevelles in Monaco Orange. First Gear also did the Chevelle in Fathom Green, and I've been looking for one of those to go with the FG '69 Nova and Camaro on my workbench. No luck at all, though I have seen black ones offered.

Those both look quite nice.  Happy too to absorb a good customer relations/customer service tale given it offsets many tales of woe shared by others in relation to shipping gone wild, etc.  Neat items surely.

I keep looking for the green one.  For you or me.  I have seen the black one and don't like the side stripes and well, it's black.  They don't show up good in my display (unlit at top of room)

There's a FG Nova???  Haven't seen that one. Hmmm seems lilke a thread possibility...  I do like their vehicles.

I have the FG 68 Elky, the 69 SS396, 427 Fairlane, 69 Boss 429 Mustang, and the 73 F100.  Eventually want one of the Econoline vans since my grandpa worked out of one for years.

I meant a Revell plastic kit I painted with Testor MM FG. Sorry about the confusion.

Yep.   I am having issues shipping stuff myself.  Maybe.   I have sent out cars in their original Mint packaging and get emails that parts have fallen off in shipping and become lost, supposedly.   And I had a guy sent me photos of a car I shipped and the car was killed.  So we did a return and the car he sent back is likely NOT the car I sent him.   Missing different parts than the one I sent  him, I think.   So I think he scammed me.  Imagine that....

But yes it was nice of them to make it right.

Back when I owned a hobby shop, Ertl would credit anything I ordered from them that arrived damaged.  And tell me to destroy the item.

The eBay free upgrade folks are out there!

I used to sell old car brochures on eBay.  One time I sold a 1980s Firebird brochure to a guy who immediately complained that it was in horrible condition and was sending it back. Confusing to me since I had a factory case of these, and every time I sold one I'd pull a factory mint fresh one from the box.

His return arrives and the brochure he sent me looked like a cow licked it.  Lots of damage on the cover from something wet. All bent up and in horrible condition. I wrote back with a photo of my factory case of brochures and told him to pound salt.  Never heard back!

I was very pleased when FG came out with the Econoline, it is definitely 1/25th.  I had gotten a Jada Econoline and was very disappointed with it.

Recents.   Franklin mint 57 Chrysler 300 LTD Ed.  #80/500.  I wanted one of these with the wire wheels.  Bought it off diecast.org auction for about half the eBay price with boxes, liner, docs, and the top and boot.

49 Ford Woody.  Less than $30 delivered, but no box.

Thanks, I agree.  I had a black one that I didn't care a thing about, sold it. And I have the Ertl Precision 1/18 which is such a nice model.  But this one will go well with my 55 and 56.

Got this one yesterday.   This is one of the ebay listing photos.   I've been wanting this one for a while due to it's overabundance of 50's coloring.   SHOULDA bought it last year when they were cheaper.   The DM version really is nicer than the FM version.   I have had several FMs I have bought for $10 or so, clean them up, sell for $30.   Running out of affordable cars to acquire.

When warm weather hits again, I'll have to do some diecast repaints and go back to building plastics.   And oddly, not looking all that forward to the plastics anymore.

I sold the Power Wagon above to a lady here at work.  She fell in love with it so away it went.  We also ordered her the Auto World 69 Camaro.  It came in yesterday just as we were leaving work and she took it home without removing it from box.   I really wanted to see it out of box.  I'm guessing it is a JL rebox.  But it looked good in orange with white hockey stripe.

Todays delivery was this BBurago 1979 VW Golf GTI.  My first reaction was there is no chrome but then upon reflection I realized that is correct, the 1:1 had no chrome.  Then I spent a moment examining the box and noted an Italian flag with the words Italian Design, strange for a VW.  Then there was the statement "Manufactured by May Cheong Group France"  and a sticker on the box that says BBurago International, Fontana California and Made in China.  On the bottom of the model it says Made in China.  May Cheong also owns Maisto and I have seen a picture of the BBurago and Maisto plants literally across the street from each other in China.  All very interesting.

Guigiaro designed the Golf and the Scirocco, so maybe it should have been Ital Design? Plaid seats? The early pre-mk 2's all had plaid. The base cars now still have plaid LOL. This looks chunkier than the QR/Whitebox issue.

Thanks Duke for the Ital Design tie in.

I picked up this pair of Datsun 240Z tribute race cars from Greenlight over the last two days at the local Hobby Lobby. Had to use that 40% discount. $29.99 retail price, Sheesh. Even at $19.34 after taxes it's about $10 too much considering the quality and content. I guess I don't have to buy them, but they do look pretty good. The BRE tribute has a "roll cage" and stock seats instead of a racing drivers seat. There was never a Gulf racing livery 240Z, but it looks pretty cool. No cage in this one and the same interior otherwise. There are no engines and the hood pins are silver circles. The chassis plate is plastic with minimal detail. I did polish both of them because the tampo printing was dull. I plan to Snake-Fu" both of them and detail that later.

They do look nice.  I built the plastics in the past.  And these just don't fit my collection theme anymore.  But I do look and kinda think about buying one when I see them at WM.  No one locally apparently knows about BRE or cares.   If it ain't NASCAR....

Nice cars.

They call it jocky though in the gti, and the seat pattern and rear pillar width ratio is constant through all the golfs.

Yeah, I used to live in North Carolina, NASCAR, ACC Mens Basketball and the Panthers. That's about it!

I bought the Greenlight BRE 240Z because I remember reading about them in the magazines at the time.  When WM started carrying the M2 I got the M2 Castline Nissan Z432 stock blue one and the yellow and black Japanese versions.  They are about the only Japanese diecasts in my collection.

This just in, a Greenlight 1996 Corvette Grand Sport.  Not as nice as the Danbury Mint Grand Sport coupe but much more affordable.  $17.99 + shipping.
