Zoom Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 (edited) My first try to make vinyl top. I use flat black airbrushed from a distance. Script from MCG.I used Model Master gloss clear lacquer, polished it and all was nice. But during my handling with the BMF and other things, I leave finger prints, which I have to polish away one more time. Why is the lacquer not “rock” hard? Anyway, it come out nice, in my opinion. Jim N Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Looks very nice. Black is not an easy color to paint.
Monty Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Wow, seeing how nicely this turned out makes me wonder why I never got around to building mine. That paint just rocks, and the vinyl top was a great addition. Any chance we could see some engine and/or chassis pics?
Classicgas Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Very nice. I find Model Master so called lacquers take more time to properly cure than quality lacquers.
espo Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Beautiful looking Cutlass Supreme. I like how your vinyl roof turned out. Very clean chrome trim and the interior looks perfect.
Bucky Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 I like this sharp little black rocket Olds! The black looks really smooth!! I had two cousins who each owned a '67 4-4-2 . One was a charcoal gray with 4 speed. The other was an off-white with automatic. Beautiful cars!!
BigTallDad Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Stellar build! Having owned several 1:1 cars with vinyl tops from that era, I tried my best to have a semi-gloss on the tops, as opposed to a flat finish...something to consider.
fordf-100 Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Very nice build! You did a great job on a kit that is seldom seen built!
TooOld Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Triple black works on any car , beautiful Cutlass !
Buffs Fan Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 Great job on the vinyl top... I've done a couple of those and they are a pain. Your Cutty looks great
