It's available for pre-order at HobbyEasy in Hong Kong for tentative delivery date of 11/24 for $257.81 (without shipping) based on the current exchange rate.  Unless they really keep a lid on distributors outside of the home market expect this kit to be well into the $300s, maybe even close to $500 when it's all said and done.  Their 1/24 kits are somewhere in the range of $35 in Hong Kong vs. the $50 they were sold for here.  Also the 1/9 Kawasaki Ninja H2R is $63 in Hong Kong and the U.S. MSRP is $139.99.

Sooooo get ready to crack your wallets WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE open for this one folks.

The shape now looks far better than the prototype that was being shown last year

They (Meng) did say they were listening to feedback. They did get hammered on that previously.

With that pricing I am unfortunately out. Looks very good but I will get the Trumpeter kit instead as my untrained eyes cannot spot the inaccuracies anyway.

Also if I understood correctly they are planning more models in this big scale will be interesting to see what they do.

What I here is this first one will have multi colored parts and them the seconded issue  will be all white ?

Yes that was the way the Ninja H2R was done. If you look the kit number on this one is 0002 and it's a new Series as there are no other 1/12 automotive kits. 0001 will be the other version.

Well, if it was the '69 Le Mans winner I'd be all over this! I already have the Trumpeter one and the KA detail set with all the bells and whistles. When I'll build it is another story, but I don't see much difference between this one and the Trumpeter. At least not much difference in detail that I can either add myself, or get an aftermarket item if it's something way obvious.

I have to agree with Bill on this , The only thing I see is the spare tire and it's hold down straps ! I'll stick with the Trumpeter kit thank you .

Ha! That's one of those detail items I bought along with the KA photoetched set! A resin spare to go in where it's supposed to. I also got blue line decals for the tires to dress those up since they seem rather "plain". That's one of those kits that literally has a huge canvas to do so much to it.

My issue is time. With so many other projects I want to do in the pipeline, I have no idea when I'd ever get to it.

I do have the Trumpeter kit that I have not started yet.  Do we think/know that the Meng kit won't be better ? Perhaps I will wait for a review till I plunk down my money. Seems like reviews on the Trumpeter kit really are not all that good.

We are blessed with so many YouTube channels devoted to the hobby these days we  can count on someone doing an open box review soon after its released and thus saving all of us a bundle if this new Meng kit doesn't measure up.

An update, the U.S. Price has been announced and the MSRP is clocking in at $449.95...

My LHS said the best he could do in terms of final shelf price would be $337.50, which when you figure shipping something that monstrous from HK is probably pretty competitive overall. Expected delivery in the U.S. is January 2021.

I think I paid about 1/2 of that when that the Trumpeter kit came out and I see the Magnifer clone of that kit selling for under $100 online.  As Cobraman said the kit better be twice as good and if it was I’d probably sell the Trumpeter kit I have now as the likelihood of me building both are pretty low.

Based on the MSRP for 1/8 scale Pocher kits (roughly $700), this is proportionally in that territory (figuring a 1/12 scale kit is roughly 2/3 the size of a 1/8 scale kit, 2/3 of $700 is around $466.) For that price, I would hope to see a lot of included detail parts and hardware to make it worthwhile.

Interesting comparison, but I'm not sure if I agree. Pocher kits, while chock-full of details (in large 1:8 scale) they were terrible.  Thick plastic, parts not fitting well, lots of screws, and lots of simple stamped metal pieces).  Meng kit likely is a CAD-designed state-of-the-art modern injection molded plastic kit.  I'm sure the parts fit better, and they have much finer details.

I'm actually going off the most recent kits that they were selling (looks like 2014?). I know that from Meng's US vehicle kits, they do put in quite a bit of detail (and sometimes too many pieces for a simple assembly), and so this kit should be valued higher than a Revell 1/12 kit (for example). However, at 5+ times the cost of the Revell kit (original MSRP), we shall see what is all included.

I just got an email from Spot Model. They are taking pre orders and 365.00 .  I want to see a review before I bite. I may have to be happy with my Magnifier GT 40. ?
