#40 Black Beauty

I scratch built a center mounted license plate frame for the rear bumper...

...and made a "Hornet" plate:

This plate would not be really "street legal" as the the rules are prescribing, so I built it as a rotating plate just like the one in the movie:

Very innovative... When running from the law this would be a good feature to have... 

I'm still trying to figure out the science behind the black to white paint deiquse. I love the black but the white was just as stealth (IMO)?

Before I can build the custom front and grille of the Black Beauty I had to fix some issues with the hood.

I was pleased that the resin kit had a separate hood but the problem was there was nothing to support it. Thought about to glue it shut but I want to have an engine in there so I installed a "frame" from sheet styrene to hold the hood in place:

The hood itself was too narrow on the driver's side, resulting a gap.I added a strip of styrene and some putty. Now it fits:

03 Dirty Mary Crazy Larry Charger is complete!  Not a show car, its a stole car.  Decals by Keith Parks, wheels and carb by Fireball Modelworks.  I wired and added a little detail to engine. Distributor from MAD. Added a cb in the interior and made the antenna.  I'm not a scratchbuilder so everything else is pretty much box stock.  Good  kit, better than my abilities. I had to do a repaint after a gluing accident, the paint is Vallejo yellow green acrylic.

Could have been a fun build but I tried too hard and stressed myself out a bit being this was my first community build attempt.  Still glad I participated.  Comments are welcome.

#40 Black Beauty update:

Had some fitting issues withe front grille, large gaps between the grille and the fenders:

Tried to fix it with putty, still needs refining:

I wasn't too happy with the look of the headlights, so I cut them free and made new bezels from strip styrene and fitted small lenses from my parts box:

Looks much better, now:

Little more work done. Cut the stock grille/bumper to fit the new grille housing:

The grille, front and rear bumpers will now be sent out of house for chrome plating. This will take a few weeks, which gives me the time to turn the coupe body into a four-door.
