Matt Bacon Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 A bit of a slow year modelling-wise, thanks to an eventful year in real life. With luck, though, health and employment issues are behind me now and I can get back to the bench more often in 2020... 1. Huracan Performante, Aoshima, 1/24 2. Triumph TR4A, Airfix, 1/32 3. Austin Healey Sprite, Airfix, 1/32 4. Ford Escort Mexico, Airfix, 1/32 5. Bugatti Type 59, Matchbox, 1/32 6. Porsche 935, Matchbox, 1/32 7. Porsche 911S, Arii Owners Club, 1/32 8. Little Owl, Airfix, 1/1 (ish) 9. Lamborghini Silhouette, Gunze Sangyo, 1/24 10. Lola T70 Mk1 Spyder, Union/IMC, 1/25 (or so...) There are a couple more that will soon be the first completions of 2020, but in the circumstances I'm well-pleased to have managed 10 this year! Happy New Year to you all... best, M.
Modlbldr Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 (edited) Wow! What a nice year! Even with the issues you did more and better quality than I did. How are the 1/32 kits for building? I have a couple Gunze kits I haven't built yet and have been looking at some from Arii on eBay. Later- Edited January 1, 2020 by Modlbldr
Tom Geiger Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Love the Airfix 1/32s! Tiny little kits with all the details (and often more) than 1/25 scale kits! when I was a US military brat in Germany 1969-72, the post exchange never got American kits, just a steady supply of Airfix kits, so I grew up with these little cars! Great work!
peekay Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Nice work! I specially like your TR4 and Sprite builds - but the owl is excellent too.
Bernard Kron Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Very fine work indeed. If 10 is a "short" year then what can we be treated to when the boards are clear? The 1/32s are impressive. Of course I like the "ghost" Bugatti... All the best for 2020.
Matt Bacon Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Thank you all, and a Happy New Year to you to you and yours. @Modlbldr as @Tom Geiger says the genuine Airfix 1/32s are great. There are 3 generations: the 1950s-issued "vintage" kits are like Revell Highway Pioneers, and generally crude and occasionally off scale; the 1960/70s kits split two ways: adapted slot racing cars (eg Ford 3 litre, Porsche 908 /917, Ferrari 250LM) and "everyday" family cars like the Ford Escort/Maxi/Triumph Herald which are well-detailed, broadly accurate, and complex to build...the Jaguar 420 is my "grail kit " of those; finally, there are the 1970s vintage racers, like the Bugatti 35, MG Magnette and Alfa 2300 which are accurate, detailed, complex and a bit brittle... Matchbox 1/32s cover a broad range, all of which are reasonably detailed and usually can be built opened up or closed. There are some great pre-War models like the Bugatti 59 or the Aston Martin Ulster, and 70s racers like the Surtees, Tyrrell or Porsche 917/10. None of them are bad kits -- it just depends what you are interested in building best, M.
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Nice to see some unusual subjects being built up too!
1959scudetto Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Some great builts, Matt - I especially like your TR4 (it is my favorite British roadster) - if that only qould be available in 1/24 (Gunze missed it - stopped with the TR3 A) - this would be a great one for Tamiya...
TooOld Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Super collection of builds , all very well done ! Sure wish a TR4 was available in 1/24th scale .
89AKurt Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 I missed this, was searching for the Lamborghini Silhouette and see that you built it, and now recall the build topic. Very nice selection of well done models!
RiderZ Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 Beautiful group of cars you built. You have skills!!!
