ATHU Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 (edited) Stalled project, now finally completed. Both kits are Revell. The black car showing the early style MK1 GTI with the metal bumpers and the red car showing the late style MK1 GTI with the larger plastic bumpers. On the red car the stance was lowered a bit and I used a set of ATS Sport wheels from Renaissance Models. I also added some extra detail under the hood on both models. The last pic is my own '79 GTI parked outside my parents house back in the 1980's ? Edited January 4, 2020 by ATHU
stitchdup Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Thats a nice pair of golfs sir, the real king of the hot hatches
89AKurt Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Always had a soft spot for those! VW had an ad campaign, bring in the 'coupon' and get a no pressure test drive. Had a '77 Honda Civic CVCC at the time. I still remember the exhaust note, and acceleration. Later I traded another of my cars for a '91 Jetta GLi, which was fun, until the timing chain broke. Nice job on these. Now I want to find a kit. ?
Silver Foxx Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 These are both really nice builds , well done .
GeeBee Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Very nice builds, I've got one on the backburner which is going to be painted in Inari silver, the colour of your actual 1:1, I like the red Fiat 127 in the distance, I passed my driving text in one just like it.

espo Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Great looking Golfs. The paint work is flawless looking.
grodudulle77 Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 You have done a very nice work with the both, your painting is awesome !!???
beeRS Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Both are fantastic builds. They look very realistic. The wheels on the red one suit it perfectly. I also had a 1:1 Golf Mk1 in the late 80s, but mine was a 1.1. I longed for a Gti with the later bumpers, but that would have been way out of my budget. Are these the same kit with two building options, or are they different kits?
Matt Bacon Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 (edited) They both look great, and really capture that iconic look. Excellent job! BTW, if you want to accessorise your outfit to match: https://heeltread.com/collections/all/products/gti-socks best, M. Edited January 5, 2020 by Matt Bacon
Foxer Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 (edited) Beautiful builds ... and the paint is spectacular! Next you should build the one you had. Edited January 5, 2020 by Foxer
