This was a fairly productive day at the bench.  Got two kits washed and ready to go for whenever I’m ready to start them.
Also put the first two coats of clear on my beetle, bench raced the MPC Grumpy Vega (I have a pretty cool concept brewing for that one), and probably most importantly, I got the final coat of clear on this one.

I have to say I’m feeling more confident in my painting skills.  I’m definitely not to where I want to be yet, but I think I’m making progress.  I owe a debt of gratitude to some of you guys too.  This forum and its members have helped me far more than you’ll ever know.

Got the rims done, but just took pics of one showing how different lighting makes a difference.

Got a bit more work done on this one. Got the steering wheel painted and installed. Initial paint on the door panels and seats. Also settled on a paint for the frame, engine and rear suspension.

Later-

I finished my Hemi-Hydro started back in 1996

Great looking build. I wish that they would offer some different small boat kits like this. I built one using this same basic kit but added the interior and jet drive setup conversion and replaced the Hemi with a blowen big block Chevrolet for power.

Me too.

Have you ever looked at some of the Dumas boat kits?   They're all wood.   I have a Chris Craft started.   Someday I need to get back to it...

I haven't heard of them. Do you have a site I can look at them? The old Cris Craft boats along with the Reva boats are works of art in my mind. Since you like wood boats you should look up the annual boat show at Lake Tahoe online.

Check them out here:

The old wood boats are works of art.  Love everything about them.  Including that classic inboard sound.  If you’ve ever been around one when it started up, you know what I’m talking about.  One of the best noises in the world!?

Thanks for the info. Those are beautiful looking examples, but a little rich for my blood. As for the sound of the inboards, I have attended the wooden boat show a few times at Lake Tahoe and I agree with you about the sound. As I recall YouTube has some videos that you can look at from shows of the past. One in particular is a 40 ft+ Cabin Cruiser with a Stainless-Steel roof over the main parlor. The boat is powered by twin Allison engines. You will know when it starts.

Yeah, they can be a bit pricey.  I have a few of the smaller scale boats.  If you watch, you can get them pretty reasonably on eBay.  I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than $25 for one.  The bigger ones are way above my budget too.

I’d love to go to that Lake Tahoe show.  I’ll check it out online.?

Thanks for the info on EBay. I don't normally go there but $25 is well within the budget.

Mixed a color for my next project, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. This could fit. Perhaps a little darker with a finish of flat clear coat.

Looks pretty good, and nice to see another vapor ?.

I somehow broke the edge off my Toyota hood trying to get it off so now I glued in this triangle piece cut from a styrene strip. I'll let that dry overnight and hope it stays in place during sanding.

Put some chrome wheels, rocker covers and steps. Mostly from the Deserter GMC pickup kits. I like those extra 8 hole wheels that come on the trees but they could use a little coat of matte clear to make them look more like aluminum.

1/8 Mercedes 1955 gull wing engine wip. The bodywork finished, filling gaps and smoothing out the body. Black needs to be straight. . Sanding and reprimed over and over.
