Not really concerned with finishing these in the next couple of weeks... time to work on making the LT5 fit and that the firewall is recessed enough for it to fit! -KK

Got a little time at the bench over the weekend working on the Woodpecker Speed Boat... added a brace & a little uplift to the bow deck support...

WP_20200329_009.jpg.7a004bd4302e2402b32c86d066c23f95.jpg

If you look a bit closer, you can see what having the deck stretched over the bulkheads has accomplished!

WP_20200329_010.jpg.2401700bf7dbe9a4e32cf2597555e0a9.jpg

This shows the net effect of stretching:

WP_20200329_014.jpg.4c97b0f37fae0e39fa7e313cea4674bd.jpg

Had to fill around the center plank:

After a bit of sanding... the deck goes back to the stretcher! -KK

Anton, thanks for tappin' in! These both have been a bit of a challenge... here's how I left the '49 Chevy 3100 Suburban Woody -KK

Beautiful work Kit! I’m totally impressed with both builds. The boat is a little gem with a lot of neat ideas and solutions to problems I would’ve been stuck on for two years ?

Back on the Woodpecker Speed Boat Engine Hatch

Here's where I could have made a better decision regarding opening the hatch from the underside of the deck...

WP_20200401_013.jpg.2e23009249861803a29d9e766db041ee.jpg

I now know, in hindsight, this would have come away just a bit more true to the deck design had I gone through from the topside.

WP_20200401_016.jpg.2877da6bdc5b39b5940896fac443cafb.jpg

Following the inner hatch brace as a guide was very close to the deck lines from the topside of the hatch.

WP_20200401_020.jpg.907fcebe939f3a01e4ba533cee0f5975.jpg

Truing up the deck opening and adding the outer hatch border still needs a little klean up...

WP_20200407_001.jpg.dbb1d8a77fade8ba36103e9622e00f8c.jpg

Nice finishing touch to the hatch opening... lines up the hatch opening up with the deck design.

WP_20200407_003.jpg.94df09e9980df568fefa77ca15facfaf.jpg

Klamping down the hatch to it's new backbone hinge brace.

We'll see how it all fits together, next time. -KK

The boat is looking good, there KK!! I love the way those carbs look sticking through the deck! -RRR

Brother, you startled me! Snuck up on me, there!! Funny you should key in on those... had fun with the carbs over the last couple of days!  Based on where they came out from under the engine hatch, the Block and Tranny had to be moved forward just a tad:

WP_20200407_002.jpg.b06d23ec270bc72ef638869d9d5ca0d0.jpg

So I had to add a short extension between the bulkhead & the two speed tranny:

WP_20200409_004.jpg.a884927b70f29a5d85aabc2f0ceb0403.jpg

And, that set in motion yet another minor relocation: the cockpit, because it attached to the engine stringers.

1330287145_19WoodenDeckSpeedBoatStudebakerPowered.jpg.e493aa16b2527f64fc7783b9bc63c4b8.jpg

Just a little finish work on the engine hatch...

WP_20200409_005.jpg.64e430327cd1b2af2c8d40774b7b590b.jpg

and, then back on the Rack (as @Rocking Rodney Rat says! -KK

Some amazing work going on with these two projects! I love the look of the front of this from this angle. The front clip on the woody body is gorgeous!
