Lorne Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Finally a project that is talking to me. With a few adjustments, a cut here and a mock up there,....Stance, wheels and color (not this color although very nice, molded color from the box) but throw in a scratch built frame and cut up the truck box to fit the monster tires,.....could be the next build?
Lorne Posted March 5, 2020 Author Posted March 5, 2020 Thanks modelcarmag for moving my post, a sleep a the wheel
NOBLNG Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 This looks like it could be a real nice truck! Looking forward to your build.
Koellefornia Kid Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Love the color! Engine looks great, where does it com from?
Lorne Posted March 8, 2020 Author Posted March 8, 2020 engine is from TDR innovations 3D printed. RB motion, Model Car Garage, Detail Masters and photo's for reference The truck comes in that colour moulded in. Nice but I'm going with a candy paint job from House of Kolor. Thanks for your interest
Modlbldr Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 I like the mock up of this. What a beautiful engine too! Can't wait to see the progress you make on this. Later-
gotnitro? Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Wow everything just looks spot on ! Even the box color is perfect imo for this truck showing off its curves . What rear tires did you use
Lorne Posted March 17, 2020 Author Posted March 17, 2020 Rear tires were a labour of love! I cut a Pegasus tire in half then added two rubber washers ( a little larger) then sanded them down and super glued (black rubber cement) them together. The rim is from our good friend "Dancing Bear"!! I contacted him through Face Book and he spun me some rims to match the tire width. Get this,... he spun down the Pegasus rims and made them to fit the "sleeves" very cool !!! Dancing Bear has amazing wheels for purchase - CHECK IT OUT!!
dino246gt Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Holy BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH is that ever cool! Dancing Bear does amazing wheels, yes I have some! That pickup of yours is simply stunning, so far, I can't wait to see more!
Lorne Posted March 21, 2020 Author Posted March 21, 2020 The stance and the wheels are good to go!! Big Block just fits. Tubbed the stepside box. Colour so far thinking,.... Hot Magenta?? Gotta be a candy colour of some kind??
AmericanMuscleFan Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 Another great build in the making Lorne! Hot Magenta sound great to me!!! Can't wait to see your next update on this truck! Cheers, Francis
Lorne Posted March 25, 2020 Author Posted March 25, 2020 Latest stuff on the truck. shortened the box by 3 scale inches. Looks a little more hot rod
Scott8950 Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Looks great so far. This truck is gonna be wicked cool
Hotrod 97 Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Excellent progress, Lorne. I think it’d look really good in Hot Magenta.
Lorne Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 Working on the front suspension. All parts have been test fitted. Painting the Mustang II front suspension soon. Needed to assemble it all with tires and rims to get the proper width under the truck. Here is the steering link so far!
AmericanMuscleFan Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 WOW!!! This engine is fantastic and the rack and pinion looks like the real thing! Will be a killer truck Lorne! Great update!!!
espo Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 I like very thing about this build, and the original color also. This will lot great no matter what color you use.
Lorne Posted April 26, 2020 Author Posted April 26, 2020 Mustang II rack and pinion 95% complete! THAT WAS A CHALLENGE!!! Yikes!! Combination of R&D Unique, RB Motion, Model Car Garage, Future Attraction and scratch build the rack and pinion. Colour,... House of Kolor - Hot Pink Pearl.
89AKurt Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 Killer build! This is why I'll never build another street rod, you guys make me look like a rookie. ? I like the original plastic color too. ? But if it's like silver plastic, you can see swirls?
