Ctmodeler Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Hate actually painting bodies. Worried I'll screw it up and it won't come out nice. I don't think I'm as picky as some of you guys though. Most of you build like professionally , I'll give it to you guys. I kinda like final assembly. Where it all comes together and becomes a whole car !
Plowboy Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 Least favorite is removing mold lines from every single part! Favorite is a toss up between body prep work, paint and foil.
berr13 Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 My favorite task it putting the completed model in a display case, and admiring what I've created. I really enjoy the finished product. Windows and BMF are tasks I enjoy the least.
57peppershaker Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 At the moment Im starting to not like sanding side trim on 57 Chevys to make a bel air into a 210. Still should get easier as I have several to do.
ZTony8 Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 I used to like doing decals but with the current, very thin, decals I get very frustrated at their tendency to fold over onto themselves.

This isn’t a pet peeves thread...what part do you guys like?? Edited April 7, 2020 by NOBLNG
ChrisBcritter Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I greatly enjoy carving, trimming, whittling and fitting; love researching, don't care for wiring engines but I'm getting better at it, and really don't care for doing paint jobs.
cobraman Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I like the planning the of a build. How best to combine parts from different kits to make something different or unusual. Some ideas work and some don't but that's the challenge that I like. What I like least is applying BMF. I like the look but find it tedious . I have taken to using the chrome pen at times but the look is not quite the same.
Doug 1061 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 My favorite thing is painting, at least when all goes well... My least favorite is a toss up between windows and decals. One big reason why I don't build race cars.
restoman Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I like the planning stages best, determining what will go with what else and how it all should look. A close second to that is body prep and painting. Least favourite... probably when doing an old kit and fighting with decals from start to finish. That takes all the pleasure out of it, for me. ...Till it's done, then we're good. I'm not wild about applying BMF, but seeing it done gives a great sense of satisfaction.
Brutalform Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Most favorite part would be choosing the wheel and tire combinations, while my least favorite is foiling. I still hold my breath when I’m trimming the foil with the scalpel. Foiling will always be my least favorite thing.
BeakDoc Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Least favorite: All the pre-paint prep work. Mold lines, flash, sink marks, deepening panel lines, sanding, tedium. And installing windows. Favotie parts: Problem solving and reengineering ill fitting kits. Also, and I’m the oddball here, I love the foiling process. It’s the most Zen part of a build for me. But I also hold my breath when the scalpel is near the paint job.
Hotrod 97 Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 My most favorite task would have to be hand-painting small details on engines and interiors. My least favorite task is sanding down mold lines and reconfiguring poorly fitting parts.
jaymcminn Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Least favorite would be sanding ejector pin marks and filling/sanding sink marks. Most favorite is pretty much everything to do with finishing/polishing and all the fiddly little detail stuff.
