If you're a Mercedes purist, please go no further . . .

because I took a Mercedes 300SL gull wing and after tubbing it, I installed a small block Chevy engine.

This looks great. I'm sure you have upset many in the MB community but they'll just have to get over it. The SBC is sort of the default engine and it looks at home here. I also like the Bumper less smooth look with a great paint job. The Wheels also look perfect on this build.

Maybe I should have a big block with a cowl induction hood?  Next time.

No, subtle is cool. People will be surprised when they look under the hood. Now you need to do something interesting with the Mercedes engine!

As a Mercedes purist and I owned several vintage  MBs in my life (a ´69 200, a ´80 200D and a ´84 280SEL), I have to make sure: You made the greatest Mercedes look even greater! The SBC may be blasphemy but the the wheels look cool!

I like it.

It would be quite a widowmaker with all that extra power and torque feeding through those notoriously evil swing axles that made the rear wheels prone to extreme camber change and sudden loss of grip!

One for the brave and skilled!

Nice Work, Jim!  Like a couple of the others, I'm a fan of the classic MB's, but I really like what you did on this one.  Good styling without being over the top.

What kit did you use?

Thank you Donald and Larry.

Swing axles were replaced with a normal differential.

Good move, Jim! You may have just saved a scale model life!
