cobraman Posted May 1, 2020 Author Posted May 1, 2020 Thanks Carl . To me too sometimes in some photos . May have a solution to the hood problem . I found a radiator in my parts box and shaped it . I also ground it down to thin it out . If I make a hole in the hood for it maybe that will be good enough . Perfect , no !
cobraman Posted May 1, 2020 Author Posted May 1, 2020 This may work . Still some to do but for me , this is pretty good .
Dann Tier Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 (edited) Man this is looking GREAT, Bud!!!! -and thats a VERY clever way to solve the hood vent!!!....that kind of radiator looked better as a vent anyway! Edited May 7, 2020 by Dann Tier
AmericanMuscleFan Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Good trick for the hood vents, you nailed it Ray! Personally, I would have taken the hardest way by stacking thin Evergreen styrene strips with shorter ones in between as spacer and used liquid cement at ends to connect them with the hood. Well done so far and nice project in the making!!!
cobraman Posted May 7, 2020 Author Posted May 7, 2020 Thank you guys. I realize that my solution for the vents may not be the best way to solve the problem but a mans got to know his limitations ! Not trying to make a perfect replica just something as close as my limited talents will allow.
AmericanMuscleFan Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 You made a real good job on the hood Ray! I do not think I would have had the idea of recovering a piece of radiator to make the vents. It's exactly what scratch build is all about... Well done sir!!!
Ben269 Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 This is a very cool project. Those wheels turned out really nice!
89AKurt Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 I didn't know what this car is, never seen it before. Ambitious enough to thwart most people, but you have a great start on it. Regarding color, so many variations, with camera, film, lighting, printing, monitor settings, no way it will be exact, just do what you like the best, since you are in charge. Are those taillights from a Riviera?
cobraman Posted May 8, 2020 Author Posted May 8, 2020 Not sure about the tail lights. I'm going with Tamiya silver for color.
streetmachine11 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 cant say I've heard of this cobra before. really interesting how they used the cougar concept car. but I guess if any one would know about an obscure cobra it would be you! anyway great progress love the solution for the hood vents this is coming together nicely
cobraman Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 Bummer ! Those beautiful wire wheels won’t work . Too tall . I should have known earlier . So ..... I pretty much will have to use the kit wheels and tires . Oh well , I tried . I will still move forward .
Codi Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Ingenious solution for the hood vents Ray. I wasn't familiar with this car until I checked out your thread. Sharp car & project. cheers, tim
DumpyDan Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Nice looking car, and it is coming along nicely. I will be following your build Ray.
geordie Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 I am liking this … very good work …. very interesting project. I am not a fan of Cobra's generally …. but I do like this concept car very much …. stick with it … lot of work to do.
