Actually, you can claim unemployment benefits even if the business is open if you have an underlying health issue that makes you vulnerable to contracting the Covid virus. Have family members who own an essential business but lost several employees to unemployment because of it. Likely will get the employees back once the government stops the payments.

Interesting. Did not know that. Thanks for the info.

Stores in San Diego County are still closed.

Looks like Sacramento county is still closed, the store in Placer County shows "open".

SoCal is still pretty ugly, especially LA County. Things are starting to bloom a little around here and parts Northward. As I mentioned earlier, our one LHS here never closed. Not sure how, but they didn't.

Los Angeles is, not the rest of California, or at least not San Diego

Walked into Micheals today to get paint, glue and some wooden clamps.  Easy in/out and forgot my phone/coupon and they gave me 20% the paint.  Much less people than your typical 7-11 and probaby less risky.  ?. I was not used to going to HL anyway since they were a lot further away but a new one opened up nearby in an old ToysRUs but that only lasted a month until almost everything closed.  ?

And for the most part, it is still about that, and some of what we are talking about has quite a bit to do with business opening.

If we are still ordered to stay home, nothing much is opening.

The state rules are that you can't move to stage 2 until your county has zero deaths in the last 14 days, or you go rogue and open anyway. Sacramento County has some issues with COVID-19 in nursing homes right now, and we have had two deaths in the last 14 days, both in nursing home situations. Placer County is largely fairly rural, except for the western part. They are cleared for stage 2, so the Hobby Lobby in Roseville is open. We won't see that happening in Sacramento County until stage 2 is cleared, I don't think. The derailed locomotive is a little harsh IMHO, since we were talking about how different areas are opening up at different rates. Can you find an image of a caboose with one truck derailed instead? ?

New one near me in an old ToysRUs as well. I am not sure if they actually ever opened before they closed. It will be nice to have one really close to the spouse's beloved Barnes and Noble when things open up again.

A lot of them opened in ex TRU sites.  Probably the correct square footage and configuration for their model.  The two I'm most familiar with opened in old supermarkets.   I've been in a number of their locations and they are eerily the same exact floor plans down to items being on the same hooks.  Parallel universe times!

How do you do that ? Maybe they were backing up and someone didn't change the switch from the siding.

I'll be headed there in another week. Should be open this week but I can't really go out right now, just had carotid artery surgery so need rest right now.

I went by a couple of the HL stores in the area today. Many openings on the model shelves. I'm sure it will take a while before their suppliers get anything new to them. The good news is they're back open.
