Plowboy Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 (edited) I scored this builtup up on ebay for cheap a while back. When it arrived, it was in better shape than I anticipated. Instead of blowing it apart and restoring it, I decided to see if I could clean it up and polish the paint. If it didn’t work out, I could still fall back on my original plan. I started with removing the chrome pieces and giving the body a light polish. The roof popped loose during that process. So, I was able to clean the glass and interior also. All of the chrome was redone with a Molotow pen. I finished it off with the chrome reverse wheels from an AMT '57 T-Bird and the tires are from the last issue of the '60 Ranchero. To me, it has that true survivor feel to it that can't be replicated. This is what it looked like when I got it. Thanx for checking it out! Edited May 14, 2020 by Plowboy
peekay Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 You brought a rare model beautifully back to life and without loosing the survivor look.
espo Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Neat looking Ranchero. Very nice considering the age of the kit & build.
TooOld Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 That is super nice ! I like that you saved it instead of rebuilding it into something new and the chrome reverse wheels are the perfect upgrade while still being able to display it as a survivor .
stavanzer Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 What a Great Save, Roger! It Reeks "Survivor Build". You did Good.
Classicgas Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Very very nice. We can only hope Revell will give us a new tool.
Snake45 Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Outstanding work, you done great! You know how much I love resurrected original survivors. I hereby bestow upon you the coveted title of Glue Bomb Hero! Model on!

alan barton Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Roger, I know I reckoned you should give it a rebuild but that is very, very nice. A beautifully sensitive restoration. Cheers Alan
Dave Darby Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 I kinda liked the Moon disks, but you certainly frosted the cake nicely. Nice preservation. I like it.
Hotrod 97 Posted June 12, 2020 Posted June 12, 2020 Nice cleanup! Shined up paint and chrome, but still has that “survivor” vibe. Great job!
