It's been a while since I worked on this one. I had actually started back in on Josephine (the brown 50 Sedan) but ended up needing to order some more HOK paint for it. So, back on this one. I changed out the tires for some Modelhaus #430 whitewalls. Small change, but I like them better. I taped off and painted the engine bay and have started on the motor. I also got the dash and steering column/wheel together. I also cut a scrap of clear plastic and mounted it on the top of the hood ornament. Stay tuned. I need to get this one across the line. Been way too long on it.

Very nice, Tom. Are you going to pu those wide whites on your 49.?

Thanks Carl. Yes, those are the tires and wheels for this build.

That doesn't look like the same color you showed me the other day.  ?

What one did I show you the other day? I have so many projects to bounce around on. I started working on the brown 50 and realized I had painted the body with a coat of Pagan gold under the Cocoa Pearl years ago. But when I painted the dash and rear bumper extension I forgot the coat of Pagan gold needed for the color to match. Unfortunately, I used the last of my HOK Cocoa Pearl. I just ordered more so that I can repaint the dash, bumper extension and tops of the door panels to match the body.

So, until my paint comes in I'll finish this 49 up first.

Coming along nicely. Love the flames.

Thanks Bob!

I got a bit more work done tonight. I sanded down the back of the wheel rims since they were too wide. Also got a bit more done on the engine. Not going to go too wild on the detail for the engine. I'll have to see how much work I'll have to do to get the engine not to hit the hood since the body is sectioned. May only need to lower the engine mounting brackets. More work tomorrow night.

I love this classic custom work. Great job. How did you fix the "cut-off" sectioned bodyparts?Did you put a strip of styrene to hold them better?

Thank you. The only strips I used to help hold the body together was around the trunk area because it took a bit of sanding and shaping around the tops of the rear fenders. Other than that it was just lining it up well and super glue.

Got onboard late to this build thread. Love the color choices you made for the body and flames...quite distinctive. What paint brand? And what shades?

Thanks Styro- the paint for the yellow is Testors Custom Lacquer Chrysler PY3 yellow. The white is Testors Classic white with White Lightning over it. The green is Tamiya TS 60 Pearl Green and Testors One Coat Lacquer Emerald Green.

Lot of work of that body so far, but you'd never guess !

beautiful flames too, an unusual choice of colours but it works for me  !

Lowlife- Thank you very much. That is high praise when it's difficult to tell the modifications. Glad you like it.

I got started on the interior but didn't like it at all. I thought it looked like someone had thrown up all over it. So, this morning I threw it into the Pond to start over. When you look at the picture, I'm sure you'll agree.

Still plugging along on this. I got the interior completed. Lessened the ugliness by painting the seat main color white instead of yellow. Not as much yellow now.

I also got the engine installed and the engine bay completed. I'm ready now to redo the BMF on the trim and get the glass in. I want to get this one off the bench!!

I have a 49 that I built years ago. I never could get the look I wanted. Maybe I should just send it to you for a rebuild. ?

Got some work done on this thing this morning. Glass and interior is installed and I airbrushed the bumpers and grill with Molotow chrome. Now to let that dry a few days. Should be done by early next week!

Well praise the lowered that stance is so perfect!

Thank you Tom. That stance was difficult to achieve.

Hi Tom!

Great stance, and the flame job is impressive, even more so in the extreme close-ups. Bravo!

Just curious: did-you have any after-toughts about leaving the side-molding on it? The flame masking must have been complicated?

Honestly, this entire build other than the sectioning of the body and the stance that I wanted was somewhat of an afterthought. I had received the Lazy Modeler flame mask after I sectioned it. I began laying out the mask only to realize that since I had sectioned the body the flames would not fit the body as intended. I think that they still worked out fine. I kind of liked the flames working around the side trim so I am actually glad I left the trim.

I finished this one up this morning by putting on the front bumper, exhaust tips, license plate and a couple of decals. I also had to re-attach the clear piece for the hood ornament as I knocked it off twice!

This build makes an even dozen for the year...and I may be able to finish another by year end. This one has been a long haul to get it completed but I'm finally moving it to Under Glass.
