Jim B Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 I started this kit back in June, and while it probably isn't the best 1966 Ford Mustang kit on the market, I like how it came out. It looks like a 1966 Ford Mustang to me, and it's probably as close as I'll ever get to actually owning one of these cars. I've wanted a Mustang since high school, and that was a LONG time ago. This era Mustang has always looked the best to me, although the 2020 is pretty slick, too. I did a black interior with a Tamiya Dark Green TS-2 body. I did add the rearview mirror from the spares box (Thanks, Tbill). Looks like I forgot to sand the tires. Oh, well. Too late now. Thanks for looking.
Tom Geiger Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 Very cool. Love the unusual color! Back in the summer of 1976 my buddy Mark has a white 1966 base coupe.. 6 cylinder, manual everything! We tore that puppy to hell and back!
Chuckyg1 Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 Yeah, like your choice of color. Very nice, clean build. I have this kit, but every time I look it over, I put it back. Seeing how yours came out is making me rethink this for a future project.
Jim B Posted August 1, 2020 Author Posted August 1, 2020 Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. Tom, I saw a green 1966 Mustang on the Internet that I really liked, so I tried to replicate it. This is actually "close" to a factory color. Lots of guys that I knew during high school had Mustangs. There were a lot of them driving around Miami back in the mid-1980s. John, glad to inspire you. The kit is pretty basic, but it looks nice on the shelf.
THarrison351 Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Nice build for such an ancient and I mean old like me casting. I think some parts of this "kit" dates to the original promos.
PappyD340 Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Nice Mustang, I had a red on red 66, wish I still had it!
Jim B Posted August 3, 2020 Author Posted August 3, 2020 Thanks, guys. Tim, I wouldn't be surprised about that. It has the screw holes in the body like s promo kit.

It's the ONLY '66 Mustang coupe on the market. Monogram/Revell have done '66 Shelbys but they're Shelbys and fastbacks. You did a fine job with it. Looks like a lot of cars running around in the late '60s/early '70s. Well done and model on! On 8/1/2020 at 10:53 PM, THarrison351 said: Nice build for such an ancient and I mean old like me casting. Mike F. Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Nice job! My cousin owned a 66 and It had some optional interior called "pony", I think. Car was a little beat, by 1978 when he got it, but I always liked the interior.
'70 Grande Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Another example of a kit from the long-ago past that captures the look of the 1:1 extremely well! Your build looks terrific... just like back-in-the-day! I've got one in-process, might just pull it outta the kit vault and take it to the finish line after seeing your great build.
Zippi Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Nice looking Mustang. When my wife retires next year she wants to get a 65 or 66 Mustang.
doorsovdoon Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Good looking Mustang. Colour suits it nicely.
