Meanwhile Round2 keeps updating the 50 year old MPC kit (this time with new Mach1 decals) but does not fix the hood or include a correct 351C engine.  It will not be long before it is reboxed again as a Boss 351 but with only new decals and nothing else changed like adding a correct engine or chrome front bumper.

And I cannot stand the seats in the MPC version... I am always looking for the AMT interior.

Careful examination, makes it look like the plastic in this kit is exactly like the plastic in the James Bond kit, right down to the missing roll cage half. Bad Move, Round2. At least makes sure all the parts are there........

I'm not surprised by what is in the box. But, very disappointed. Nice Box Art, Lousy Model.

You nailed it.  Being molded in white is better than red and the decals and tires are an improvement but otherwise it’s the same parts mish mash that will build up to a promo based mold with an opening hood.

Hasn't the AMT version only had a race car interior since it was first reissued as the 'Macho Mustang' in the late 70s?  I don't recall seeing one with a stock interior in the reissues in recent history...

No surprises, Round 2 did the new front end parts and wheels tooling for the JB kit, so I assumed this would be the same, just new box art and decals...

These pictures posted by Casey in another thread about the AMT 71 Mustang seem to show that they engraved the new bumper and grille where that side of the rollbar lived.

This is the parts layout of the James Bond car and the new boxing of the 71 with the new bumper circled.

Then here is the parts layout of the MPC 73 Mustang. Look at the same place on the tooling and you'll see the now missing rollbar parts.

Meanwhile Round2 keeps putting out the same garbage kit, with a few small "updates", and new box art and decals, with the hope that buyers will keep forking over their money, since they have no better, more easily available option.

FTFY.

The forthcoming Revell kit need not set the 1/25 scale world ablaze. It simply needs to be better than what's currently available, and it likely will be.

Also, can we keep this topic about the forthcoming Revell kit, please?

Correct.... I have found stock pieces at swap meets and flea markets

With any luck, we will get an additional Mach 1 variant from Revell eventually with the Boss 351 rebranded as a 351C and/or another Mach 1 variant with the 429. Keeping my fingers crossed.....

Someone has stated that the second version of the Mustang will not be another body style, but rather another fastback with a 429 engine.

I'm wondering if I could squeeze the 429 from the '70 Torino Cobra under the hood of the '71 BOSS? .....??

I do not see why not.

It would make sense to get the most out of the new molds to do a Mach1 with a 351C and 429Cj and Boss 351 with of course the correct front chrome bumper for the Boss.  Doing an Eleanor version would require the 73 grille and flat hood but to be movie correct it would retain the 71 style rubber front bumper.  These parts would also be helpful to be able to make a 72 Sprint with the Mach1 grille and bumper.

Perhaps a drop top and a hardtop will come along as well . Imagine the de facto endless possible engine / body style combos (429-CJ convertible !  429-CJ coupe ! 351-C Mach 1 !) .

Please, Revell, make the FMX and C-6 available along with the Top-Loader 4-speed !

so does this one come with a 429 Cobra Jet as well? I cold have sworn I saw a set of what looked like Boss 426 valve covers with it on a vid from youtube. I would assume this was from a drag version?

AMT never made a 429CJ engine.  The rehashed MPC kit under the AMT name has a Boss 429 and a small block 289/302 that goes back to molds from the 1960’s.  So the bottom line is for a correct build you supply your own engine.

Spot Model has it available for pre-order, but the expected arrival date is the end of October 2022, so it might be released stateside earlier?

Yahoo.  I hope this leads to multiple versions (Mach1, Eleanor, 429SCj, etc.). ?

Kudos to Ed Sexton for getting this new kit made.  Now what am I going to do with all those AMT and MPC kits I have?

Against my better judgement, I finally broke down and bought an AMT 007 Mach I.

Wow ?

Hopefully, Revell will come thru for us.

We have all been there.  ?  At least the 007 kit has some decent decals although good ones have been available from Keith Marks for many years and in black or argent (silver).  Molding it in red however is pretty annoying.  That should be left to just the snap kits as I doubt many modelers are not going to paint the body.

Found another company (jumbliesmodels.com) listing the Boss 351 kit is available for pre-order.

Me too. A Q-code Mach 1 wouldn't be a very big leap away from a Boss.
