I painted my first model with two of those jars..Insignia Red..Most of the old Pactra jars you see are the same as the Testors jars..These are really old and bring back good memories..1958 Edsel Convertible everything except the chrome/glass and wheels..Two bottles were just enough..I think 15 cents each in Canada..

Here is my contribution to this thread. I hope it's ok to also show Testors hobby paints. :)PactraBottles01.JPG.c0b81e1833ae1b061176febcd566911d.JPG

These are newer (but still over 30-year-old) plastic bottles.  Still liquid, although I haven't tried to use them recently.  Having the  cap show the color inside, and the name of the color was a nice feature.

This set of Testors bottles shows different label types and different style logos, and prices on the caps. I arranged them by price.  What do these tiny bottles cost today?  Is is more than $2?  Looking at the bottles, I found the slight name change interesting.  They were made by Testor Corp., so they were named "Testor's". Make sense. But later on they have dropped the apostrophe, and they just became "Testors". Also, they originally used "LQ. OZ. NET" and later "FL. OZ." for units of measure.

I once had occasion to speak to Testor about their official, "legal" name. I was told that it was Testor, and was only "TesTors" on the packaging and logo so the logo could be symmetrical.

That larger middle "T" in the newer logo has some similarity to the original "T" logo (which to me looks like a thumbtack) , but it also reminds me of an upside down ship's anchor.

I can only remember the "faceted" Pactra bottles from my childhood. I always considered Pactra superior to Testors back then.

I fully agree.  In fact, I must have 75 or more bottles of Testors that I have not touched in years, and don't plan on ever using them. I bet 95% are just as good as new.

That's very cool! It's shaped like one of their Dope bottles, only smaller.

I think every little bottle of Pactra I ever saw was "faceted," never smooth. They were glass for years, then plastic in the '70s. They also had larger glass bottles--these were a little bigger than the Model Master 1/2 oz bottles. The paint was good stuff.

One of my very first model cars was an AMT '66 Mustang fastback brush-painted with Pactra Leaf Green. This isn't it, but looks almost exactly like it. I found it on eBay and HAD to own it.
