SpeedShift Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 (edited) Nice.....love the subject, 34 coupes. I'm certainly no expert, but I believe the coupes that ran on the lakes sometimes had some radical engine placement. This is from Dean Batchelor's excellent book, "The American Hot Rod". Engine was setback into body - was a B-class flathead with Ardun overhead valves and a front mounted GMC roots blower, took it up to C class. Dig the chop on that roof. This thing is cool, for sure! always loved their cars. I'm going to guess this photo was taken at Wendover.
Painted Black Posted December 12, 2020 Author Posted December 12, 2020 Sorry for the lack of an updated as promised, but with the warm weather we are having I had to finish up some out doors stuff. Not sure I'm still digging the FE engine setup, was looking thru some parts junk and came across an abandoned project engine{s} the twin SBC setup from the Double dragster. what say ye? Soon as the cold fires up again I'll be back to this build.
larman Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 If it were mine I would not go with twin engines for this one. I think the set up you have is fine. I like the front mounted blower. If you don't like what you have, you could swap in a single smbc instead of the FE Ford. Or maybe a Cadillac or Olds engine? You could also consider an early Hemi or Pontiac?
Painted Black Posted January 25, 2021 Author Posted January 25, 2021 Small update, this build has been stalled for sometime simply because I could not find a seat that looked right, most were to small or too large, but I think I may have it, ?? Seat is from the AMT 33 Willy's And just so it's clear, the FE will stay.. Thanks for looking.

Zippi Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Nothing wrong with a Hot Rod. Should look pretty kewl.
