Steamboat Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 This started as a club Corvette build in April. Needless to say I didn't make it in time for the club build, but its finally done! It started out as two partial Monogram '57 Corvettes that I got in a trade. Although the rear of a '57 is beautiful in its own right, I wanted to do something different. The engine and wheels are from an AMT C6 Corvette. The K&N intake and the taillight lenses (clear red resin), and brake drums are 3d printed. The tailpipes exiting through the rear fenders are bits of coffee stirrers. Everything else came out of the box. The rear deck lid is repurposed from a section of the hard top. The rear of the body had to be sectioned and narrowed about 1/8" to make the lines flow, so the rear grille is missing a tooth! Paint is old school Testor's square bottle with Testor's clearcoat. I hope the Vette purists are not offended!
Danno Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 That's actually not bad at all! Kinda a radical-odd concept, but you really made it work! Congrats on doing something entirely new. ??
spencer1984 Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 That's fantastic! The "jet engine" style with the big intake/outlet look like something you'd see on a concept car from this era.
RestoModGuy Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 I love it! Very creative and well executed!
Geno Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 Man, that is just way too cool Bill. Fantastic job.
Monty Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 As a former 'Vette owner, I typically tend to side with the "purists", especially when presented with something like the main car from Corvette Summer. This, however, is well thought out and skillfully executed. Between the body mods and the wheel and engine upgrades, you've created something special here. Kudos. Quick question: you alluded to using Testors square bottle paints, but I can't recall anything in that lineup that looks like the paint on the body. I would've guessed it was Tamiya Gunmetal. Care to share which specific paint you used?
Lunajammer Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 That's the thing about this vintage of Corvette. The rear ends are so distinctive that anything different changes whole personality of the car. Brilliant idea and clever use of available parts.

Silver Foxx Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 This looks great , very different , well done .
Jonathan Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 You know, I wouldn't have thought that would work - but what you have done looks fantastic! I really like it!
