Brutalform Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 This build has been sitting around for too long. I had a lot of it completed, but didn’t have time to get all of the sub assemblies together. Wanted to make it look like the real car as much as I could. I didn’t have all of the correct sponsor decals, so I just used what I had. It’s not exact but this is the way it will stay I suppose. First a few pics of the real car I was lucky enough to find. It’s a legit TBolt that runs low 9s these days, from what I’ve read.
Brutalform Posted January 12, 2021 Author Posted January 12, 2021 (edited) And my completed build. I did some extra details on the interior, with a harness, and scratch built AutoMeter tach. Had to make door windows, to apply the decals to. Hard to see the interior when it’s done. The wheels are resin pieces that I had that came closest to the real cars wheels. Decals are Top End ( Jack Smith). Edited January 12, 2021 by Brutalform
larman Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 Another excellent build! Looks like a spot on match for the real one!
echo Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 Nice build, a lot of nice detailing on your part, engine is exceptional, the Fireball carbs can't be beat for their realistic detail.
TransAmMike Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 Looks great, all Thunderbolts were such cool cars (and I'm not even a Ford guy LOL)?
mustang1989 Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 Folks it just doesn't get much better than that. Excellent build in every sense of the word Tom.
Intmd8r Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 Love the Thunderbolts! excellent execution-the chassis detail is spot on
lordgodbob Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 Great build! Love it. I'm starting on the Bob Glidden version in a little bit, any "glitches" with this kit I need to be aware of? Again, fantastic build and great subject! Tim
Glen Powers Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Tom, congrats on a very clean and accurate build. Glen
Tom Geiger Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Neat build! Where was Norristown Ford? I live close to Norristown Pennsylvania and there was once a Norristown Ford there.
DTRocket Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 That's how I want my build's to look when I grow up. Very Nice

It’s a pretty straight forward build. The front windshield isn’t the best fit, IMO. Really no glitches though. I think it’s a well engineered kit.
Brutalform Posted February 3, 2021 Author Posted February 3, 2021 Thanks for the positive replies. I appreciate it.
crazyjim Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Excellent. I just started one for the street.

You can do a search on it, and get to see the other cars those guys run as well. Also from what I’ve read, this car is an original Thunderbolt, that was raced in the 60s under Norristown also. It used to have similar decals except for the arrow feathers on the side trim. I built that one too a while back. (Pic). I just wish I had cut the holes out of the hood though. I’d like to build the 63 Norristown Galaxie in the future as well, as soon as get some of these stalled builds off the bench. Edited February 12, 2021 by Brutalform
