Bullybeef Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 (edited) This was a quick brainstorming session while waiting for paint to dry, I started with a 37 Ford rebuilder, added a flat deck, wasn’t happy with this nor the cobbled together dual rear wheel setup. But then a partial racing wedge( missing the p/s panel came into my possession. I fabricated a quick styrene side panel( still have to cut the wheel opening) and made a better dual rear wheel set up. I still have to decide on a power train and a driveshaft setup Edited September 13, 2022 by Bullybeef Update 1

Paul Payne Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 You mentioned an engine- how about a big block Ford, and maybe a heavier rear end? Looking forward to more....... 1
Zippi Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 This is looking pretty sweet. I had a 37 Ford pickup 1:1 so ill be watching g this one.
Bullybeef Posted September 12, 2022 Author Posted September 12, 2022 Back on the bench. I wasn’t happy with the overall height of the wedge… so I cut a wedge out and made it closer to a flat deck. still some work to do to make this primer worthy
XYHARRY Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Nice build. I'll be following this one. If you get a chance check out my WIP 37 Ford Panel. ??
Vintage AMT Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 That lower ramp looks way better on this truck cab, opens up the rear window.. 1

slusher Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Good to see you back on the bench.. you have a terrific build going! 1

Bullybeef Posted September 15, 2022 Author Posted September 15, 2022 Did some more work onthe chassis and ramp, changed the rear end to a heftier unit and got it squared up a little to my liking. no I have the wedge sitting level to the ground. I love the slab side of the wedge but it will need some details, trying out a set of hood vents as a removable access panel for the rear wheels. Let me know what you think! as always all comments are welcome.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 Really liking this. Every time I see a heavy-ish older truck in reasonable restorable condition, I think of building something like it for real. The slab side gives it more of a deco feel, which works well with the cab, so how about round, full skirts that mimic the size of the actual tires? Sure would make it easier to change a flat. 1
oldnslow Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 and mimic the bead on the fenders with some .020 half round down the bottom edge and up over the cut out for the rear tires and then to the end . ? 2

I’ll have to dig through the parts bins and see what I can come up with. and thank you for the kind comments Bill.

That’s a decent idea, I’ll keep that pinned til I sort out wheel openings
XYHARRY Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I think the beading would look good too. For the wheel well maybe try something with the 37 fenders. Maybe you could cut them in half to fit flush against the panel. Also I like the idea of a 427 power plant. Cheers, David. ?? 1
