Awesome! But my God, back in the 80's they would have been better off just wrapping the box in a brown paper bag.

Ahh, I'm saved.  I messed up a project on the bench.  My cut and hack on the body didn't work out...  I've been thinking a Model A pickup would be a better plan anyway.

Any idea when we could see this kit?

Well, it appears the Hot Curl is truly lost to the ages. Because if they had it surely they would have put it back in this issue?

Depending on what they do decal and tire wise I might buy one. But I already have several, so they will really have to make it worth it. Maybe wood decals for the inserts?

Box art is very nice though

Hopefully the new version looks less like a 4x4.

It's most likely not changed from earlier issues and the front axle is stock hight and not dropped wich would have looked much better.

Well, Just changing the tires will be a 100% improvement. Add in some new decals and maybe a couple small freebies and it should sell well.

With the Revell, (ex Monogram) Woody off the market, it will have the shelve at Hobby Lobby to itself, so the casual buy wanting a Woody will only have one choice. And, in it's favor, it's not a bad choice, just not one that WE would always choose first. All Chromed Flattie is nice, and it does offer stock wheels.

The whole fender/chassis unit (frame and floorboards are molded with the fenders, as one piece) and stock engine and suspension parts are from the '28 sedan.  The sedan had the spare tire at the rear, so it didn't have a tire well in the front fender.  The original issues of the woody and pickup did have a welled front fender but it was later removed, and the new issue will probably not have it.  So the reissue would be a good source of parts for rebuilding a sedan, or a good base for a resin sedan body.

I hope the include the surfer dude.

Doesn't appear to have the Hot Curl, or else it would be pictured on the boxart? I hope I'm wrong

I built the 1980's reissue a few years ago.  It builds into a nice model.  It had a lot of flash.  The Stingray bike was a nice touch.  Lots of leftover parts to go into the parts bin.

Those Cragar wheels have long stalks molded onto their back sides.  Trimming those would pull the wheels/tires under the fenders, and make everything look a bunch better.  Or swap wheels to something else, like steelies with Ford hubcaps, or early V8 wires.

In an early 1988 issue of  Scale Auto Enthusiast  featured a build up of the then-newly reissued 1929 Pickup/Woody by Tim Boyd.

I'm pleased that those P.O.S.  Rallye G.T.  "snow" tyres hath been replaced by a nicer set.

Thx for mentioning, John....TIM

Absolutely.  It's one of my favourite builds of yours !  The way you made real wood insets for the body was / is just awesome !

Hope these show up at HL at some point. I have 2 Wild One's issues and 2 80's molded-in-tan versions, but I'd love to have another at the right price.

I miss Hot Curl
