Watched some of the TV coverage yesterday. of the BJ Auction and thought they had some good prices on some cars and a few that were out of sight. One was a great looking '57 Bel Air hardtop "custom" that would have brought a lot more than the $28k if it were at a Mecum Auction.

WOW Steve, some beauties there, and I'm super impressed by your photography.  If I had to pick a favorite car I'd be hard pressed to do so.  Gotta say too, that cross-ram engine in that 300 is very cool.

We needed a vacation, so we flew down to Phoenix and spent some time running around in the desert.

The auction was just a nice bonus. :)

I find that a Mecum auction is a better experience than a BJ auction..You can actually get up close and see the cars/trucks..Remember on in Fargo about 15 years ago..Nice stuff and very good prices..

We were right up by the stage where the cars exited the block and in the staging area.

The only place that was off limits to the "common people" was the bidding floor.

I'm not sure if that's a factory color but that green '56 Chevy is a beauty and that silver '57 Biarritz is an absolute stunner. The bright yellow and white '70 or '71 Cutlass parked next to the '59 Impala is also very impressive.

Some really great pictures.  You got me with that peach '64 Mercury big-block 4-speed car and if I can't have that one I would like that black Torino, both are rare beauties.

Steve,

if Az is on the short list

My personal opinion is avoid Phoenix ,,,,,FAR FAR to much traffic and never cools down enough in the summertime , at least not for me . BUT there is much more to do and see in Phoenix if thats your preference.

I settled south of Tucson. but can be in Phoenix in about 2 hours if I feel the need to visit and I dont have to deal with the traffic or heat unless I visit

The wife and I were actually quite impressed with the cleanliness of a city the size of Phoenix.

I’ve been to many cities a fraction of the size that were absolute trash pits, and most comparably sized cities were usually even worse.
