TransAmMike Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 (edited) Finally finished this project. I did detail paint the underside but heck, it's just an AMT undercarriage with moulded in exhaust and suspension and largely out of scale driveshaft. So not posting any boring picture of it. Paint is Deco Art Craft Extreme Metallic , cleared with Rusto acrylic laquer. The hood is the custom hood from the '67 convertable model. It required a whole lot of work to get it to look in my opinion presentable. I had to add strips on one side and the rear to lengthen and widen it. Still not a great fit but best I could do. Keen eyes will see the side vents in the fender replicate the Grand Sport. I modded the exhaust outlets also, just my idea. I really wanted a lower overall stance but failed with my effort. Anyway, here goes with some pictures: I took many more pictures but enough is enough right?!! Thanks for looking and I welcome any suggestions and/or cricicisms. Edited April 9, 2021 by TransAmMike
TransAmMike Posted April 9, 2021 Author Posted April 9, 2021 Thanks Larry, Rusty, David and Michelle. I'm still kinda upset I didn't get the rear down lower but I know if I try to correct it I'll probably screw else up in the process. And of course, the pictures reveal a few issues I'm not happy with. Well onward with my '55 Chevy build. Thanks again?
Snake45 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Pretty cool! I'm gonna have to try some of that paint, as it looks good. Model on!

Sledsel Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 That is the AMT kit? For being simple, they still build up good. I got mine low, and it was not as easy as some may think.. LOL My build on this kit..

MarkJ Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Wow, Mike. Really turned out Awesome. I was trying to picture in my mind what it looked like from our discussions, since we are using the same kit, and It looks much better then anything I could imagine. The metallic paint came out great and the cleanliness of build is super too. Really great build from a very challenging kit that nothing seems to fit right on. A build to be proud of.
