I'm excited to check this out!

"Steve Magnante is a car guy of epic proportions and a car builder of miniature scale -- 1:25 scale, to be exact. He'll toss the instructions aside to custom-build some of his favorite cars. Drawing from his encyclopedic mind, his vault of vintage magazines, and a near junkyard worth of spare parts, Steve hot rods ordinary kits to become extraordinary glimpses into automotive history."

Will we ever get to see this on the regular Motor Trend channel that we already pay for?

It's been my experience that the shows eventually come to the Motor Trend channel. I don't know know the time frame though.

Well, I, for one, think the show was great, and am in awe of steve’s Almost encyclopedic knowledge of cars and, more specifically, drag cars.  Are his models works of art (like Guy Beaudette) ?  No, of course not, but his show will help “popularize” model building.  I don’t see a down side.

But as he said, "But it's better to build 'em raw than not to build at all."

I won't disagee as long as he's hacking up common, readily available kits. It bothers me that he might be encouraging others to do the same thing to rare old irreplaceable kits or buildups.

Why? Kits are meant to be built.

Some would say they're meant to be blown up with cherry bombs. I don't agree. I think things--especially old, rare things--should be treated with respect.

I think most of them if puttied, primed and painted would look pretty good. I do understand that is not what he wants to.  To each his own.

Yeah I get what you're saying.  I'd rather see old kits built box stock.

I really don't think people would run out to buy old, vintage and very expensive kits to hack because of this show. It is lunatics like me, that already own them, that you should be worried about! LOL!

And building stock models is borderline stamp collecting! ?

So do I, and I think the expense of old rare kits will put a limit on that sort of thing.

Of course, there are people who live for the shock value of destroying nice things.

Unfortunately there will always be stupid people doing stupid things with rare and/or valuable objects. Worse is rich stupid people doing stupid things with extremely rare and/or valuable items. I won't post a link, but as an example a youtuber buying a brand new Challenger Hellcat and putting wooden wagon wheels on it and driving it around town....WHY!!!! Just to get some likes and subs on his channel to make more money and do stupider things with even more rare and/or valuable things. Stupid is as stupid does, always, unfortunately!

I don't either, but somewhere, somebody's gonna say "Hey, what about all those old kits and models of Dad's/Grampa's/Uncle Harry's from the '60s up in the attic? I bet it would be fun to build 'em up like this some rainy afternoon. I think I even got some old lacquer spray paint out in the garage I can paint 'em up with!" :angry:

Even if they did, how would you know?

Well, they might send pictures of their butchery to Magnante for publication.
