Nosferatu Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 I'm not sure when the last time I posted on this site. I wanted this project to be a combination of an American, European, modern and old school vehicle.I cut off the rear of the 1936 Mercedes (Rommels Rod)and the rear of the Porsche (1955 Speedster). Then I combined the Porsche rear to the Mercedes front. The body is old European, the engine and suspension are from the Dodge Viper - modern American, the interior is all modern AmericanToo many scratch built pieces to list.A few are:wheels, from 12 piecesFront bumper from 6 piecesdoor panels all scratch builtchassis 95% scratch builtShe's all done - I would like to officially call her Blue DreamThanks for looking and I hope you like it.
stitchdup Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Nice job, I like how the 2 kits blend together without looking out of place. You nailed the proportions. I can see it as someone taking their grandfathers old home built car and giving it the modern rod treatment
Snake45 Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Very, VERY nice--I like it! Might look even slicker with a hood, though it doesn't look bad without one. Extremely well done and model on!
TooOld Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Well done Dave ! Saw this over on CCII a while back and I still think it's the best Rommel's Rod conversion ever !
Koellefornia Kid Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 (edited) That is why I love model building, the limit is just your imagination (and the kits you have in stock). Very nice creation! Edited June 9, 2021 by Koellefornia Kid
Tom Geiger Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 That is very nice! You kept the classic look but gave it modern power. I’d like to see that in 1:1!
Venom Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Wow! How could one not like it?... Very creative and unique. I think it’s fantastic!
Nosferatu Posted June 10, 2021 Author Posted June 10, 2021 Thanks all of you for your nice comments. This was about an 80 hour build. I wish I owned a 1:1 of this!
Bainford Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Very innovative. Nice combination of design elements. Well done.
