Smoke Wagon
Your work never ceases to amaze me Anton. As for the exhausts, have you considered cutting a hole behind each front wheel well and having the exhausts dump out through those? Polished aluminum for tips… Just my 2 cents. Cheers, Steve That would look good. Will see how i get the exaust back there. thanks for the idea 😃 7 hours ago, mrm said: Cool looking project, but I personally would not supercharge that ZR1 engine. Especially with a charger like that. If you want forced induction with that engine, go turbos. Thanks! You are on to some thing there! I would normaly turbo it but i am not in the mood for turbos, have to many other turbo projects So LS it is and i see if i manage to get som other super charger. I kind of like that type more than the intake based ones. 3 hours ago, Smoke Wagon said: Your work never ceases to amaze me Anton. It warms the hart Thats also a nice option, might be possible will se the space in that region is worse than behind the rear axle, I will keep it in mind 😃 Edited December 8, 2021 by Mattilacken

Dennis Lacy
Darn, I got all excited when I saw the ZR1 LT5 engine. Stock they were 405hp and there is a company called Doug Rippy Motorsports who used to make a “DRM650” upgrade package for those that would bring them up to 650hp with ported heads, ported intake, more aggressive cams headers and exhaust.

It’s a darn good looking engine! And those mods sounds great! I Promise it will be back, maby in a future 1/24 ‘70 Chevelle with turbos and a full resto mood theme. I did not like the bulky big block found in those kits any how, seems to be a Monogram upscale engine.
Mattilacken
While working on the PS Impala and going through my chassis for a front end I noticed how close a monogram nascar chassi was in wheel base. So now when I found a Snickers nascar on a auction site I took the opportunity to mock up the chassi to get it to sit where I wanted it to. I do this since I have two sets of bodies thanks to an forum member 🙂 The difference in wheel base was so minor so I slid the rear axle a bit backwards, about 1,5 mm, on the truckarms and it seems to do the trick. Next issue is the track is to wide. And I want to keep it without flairs, so some missing of the wheels are needed. Except for that and the firewall being far back in the car leaving the driving position to be pushed back, which is ok. New dash board needs to be made and a new front cage. Also engine have to come forward. We will se if I do anything on this I just had to get it out of my mind 🤪 I figure i can move the firewall forward 4mm really easy and move the motor as well so I will do that. Stock wheel base. Front wheels are to far back when rears are centered. altered wheel base. Edited January 21, 2022 by Mattilacken
Cool Hand
Surprising how well the Nascar chassis fits, that will cut down on the amount of scratch building.. Looking forward to seeing how you fully adapt the chassis into the build.
Steve H
Hi Anton, good to see you back at this one. I’ll be watching the chassis progress closely too. I was at my desk yesterday thinking hmmmm, I really should have used a modified nascar chassis on my Camaro… Which turned into, hmmm… I still have an upcoming GMC Jimmy pro touring build which could use a nascar chassis. Keep it coming sir. Cheers, Steve

Thanks, yes will se if I use the other one for my PS build, the interior is the issue then.. will have to think about that but for the second impala it’s ideal. 13 hours ago, Steve H said: Hi Anton, good to see you back at this one. Will se if I cut the 67 Chevelle chassi and adopt the nascarfloor pan and all… will se
disconovaman
Looking good 👍 I think she would look good Taxi Cab Yellow, Just sayin... 😉 here is my buddy's 24hrs of Lemons challenge. I collect real cars and (buy sell and trade) this guy wanted to trade me for a Nova I had a few years ago for a 96 Impala SS it was Awesome but the deal didn't work out as far as value but I would've loved to own it.

Thats a sweet build, I like the idea and concept of lemons, have seen Roadkill on that event several times 😃 Nice, thats a nice hobby/ocupation! I have traded allot of cars but i am no collector since i only have 2 at the time! That Impala is sweet! Love everything about it except for the wheels. Reminds me of my 1998 Camaro that i had, btw featured in one of the big mags in the US once.
Mattilacken
So I have been playing around with two monogram nascars today. One will be the Track Day(TD/TA) Impala and the other one will be the Pro Street(PS) Impala.. so this will be a twin build and I don’t expect them to be built within 2022. But we will se, allot can change. The white TD chassi have gotten the firewall moved forward 4mm with styrene strips. picture #1-2 This sorted almost al problems. Still far back compared to where the window sit but can’t have it more forward due to tire clearance. In comparison with the stock interior tub it looks good, picture #3 #1 #2 #3 The PS chassi will be cut and merged with the black nascar chassi, that have been striped of its front coil springs to be able to run coilovers. Will have to remove the floor of the original interior tub but no hard feelings there. #4 #4 Here both the projects can be seen, the all original body on top, thanks @stitchdup For the extra set of parts! I found a extra set of headlights so I have two complete body’s now. Strangely I found a set of ‘96 impala lights on the same tree as parts that seem to belong to a 57 Chevy, a strange parts pack? And the customized body to the right. And far top is the nascars that happily donated their chassis😉 Edited January 23, 2022 by Mattilacken
disconovaman
That's a nice Camaro! I had a couple of those myself. The owner told me those wheels on the Impala were $800 each 😆 wheels and tires alone were over $4,000 on that car. It was a $35,000+ build but the Nova was worth more so I had to pass... Nice car but really not my style anyway.

Must have been a serious Nova though! I got that camaro for $20,000, way to high if you ask me now, even back when I got it. I should Have stuck with what I had, ‘77 Malibu, and put a manual in it and upgraded more parts on that.
Mattilacken
I changed my plan and tubed by black chassis, I thought it was a good first subject since the chassi is so angular. Turned out ok but I wish I had a 8mm strip instead of two 4mm. Also missed a cut early on which made for a sloppy cut late in the process which forces me for some more patch Jobb. Over all, came out good, will se if the interior and rear seats still fit. 🙏
Mattilacken
Good news! I have managed to make the interior to fit even though I have changed the chassis allot. But I will need to extend the black frame with 5mm so the front wheels are where I want them to be. The stance in the photos are as low as it can go in the back. But even this low I will be able to have an exhaust since the floor is much higher up now. some photos and last but not least the TD(TA) the problem with the front track can be seen, have to think about this later.

They are quite nice to tub, have about the same diameter as the pro stock Chevelle from Revell but a much better chassi for dropping it low since the floorboard are above the frame which leaves you the space for exhaust. And the front suspension is good looking and easy to convert to coilovers.

Steve H
Lots of slicing and dicing!! The stance in your latest mock up is perfection. If you can maintain that stance, it will be a mean looking Impala sir. Regarding the sprue with Impala headlights and ‘57 Chev parts, sounds like the Alternomad kit? Keep it coming. Cheers, Steve

Mattilacken
Got me som printed parts from a forum member to get me going on these. Since it’s a “street” car I will be needing the AC and alternator so I could not place the turbos where the kit made them to go so I will be needing to make different headers from solder. Intake got the charge cooler removed to have a chance to stuff it underneath the stock hood, seems good so far! Thanks @Ghost_33for helping out!
Cool Hand
3D printed aftermarket parts are a game changer for the hobby, possibilities are truly endless nowadays
Mattilacken
So i got an other build done and started working on this beast.. then I got access to a printer and made some parts for it as well as bought some. Made the rear part of the chassi more or less done, both underneath and inside. Need to finish the shocks and brakes as well as wheelie bars. Also made space for the battery, fuel cell, Aeromotive fuel pump, and an extra bottle for go if somebody extreme come up to the lights. Made a set of tires as well, wider and lower than the revell pro street tires, I think they suit the look of the build nicely. I have also made some changes to the floor and transmission tunnel, as well as a new fire wall and some new supports. Also printed new seats, turbos, headers, engine and details, as well as new intake scaled down from 1:1. Re modeled the front A-arms as well. Made other things as well I guess. A LQ”LS” with new intake.. built the other engine afterwards. notice the SS on the seat back. I have also cut the seat apart so I could angle it back so it looks right. I am thinking if I should cut the upper part of the headrest to make it look more like the original one. Your thoughts on that?
