spencer1984 Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 My first completed build of 2022, AMT's "Monkees-mobile" (kit #30259). Mostly box stock, with a few extra details like carpet, custom gauges, bigger rear tires, and a whole lot of BMF repair work. Paint is Tamiya Bright Mica Red over Italian Red, with custom decals I got from a fellow modeler several years back. A full writeup on the build is available here, and as always any comments/criticisms are welcome. 2
Kah puts Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 The Clarksville Express never looked so good, congrats.
chris chabre Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 NICE WORK. I never got into TV cars, but Ive always liked the Monkeemobile. Ive often thought about getting one and modifying it into something more my style
Snake45 Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Outstanding! Probably the nicest built Monkeemobile I've ever seen. Spencer, drop me an email. I have something that might be of interest to you. SnakeACP45 at AOL dot com
gseeds Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Very cool ! I’ve always liked the monkeemobile , but even more the seeing the real car I think I like seeing models of the real car even more, yours looks super !
spencer1984 Posted January 24, 2022 Author Posted January 24, 2022 Thanks, guys! 2 hours ago, chris chabre said: I never got into TV cars, but Ive always liked the Monkeemobile. Ive often thought about getting one and modifying it into something more my style I've seen a couple of builds where they took the roof of a stock 66/7 GTO and grafted it onto this body, and it's really slick looking. If I find another one of these at a good price, I may attempt that as well. 1 hour ago, Snake45 said: Spencer, drop me an email. I have something that might be of interest to you. Message sent!

Gives it that proper 60s era custom which I seem to be drawn too! another option is to chop the windshield and change up the proportions on the roof. The thing I dislike most is how fake the motor is haha. I do love the header exits though. Your build is one of the cleanest I've seen. Again, beautiful job!! 1
TonyW Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 That just looks perfect. What a beautiful build. The three car lineup took me back to the sixties in a flash. Thanks for making my day. Tony.
1959scudetto Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Very nice build - the nicest yet (I built mine from the old Blueprinter issue). Back in 1967, the Batmobile and Monkeemobile were every boy's dream in the neigbourhood.
happy grumpy Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Beautiful monkey mobile. these were really crazy times. Great job.
Dave Armstrong Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 Niiiiice looking build, classic showrod!
