I`ve used Johnson & Johnson "Future" acrylic liquid floor wax in the past with great results, but my bottle finally empty. My understanding is that Johnson & Johnson no longer makes the item.  Hence I looking  for a substitute replacement for my beloved Future wax Wax.

Open for any and all suggestions.

Thanks in advance

(Future isn't and never was "wax.")

One year ago I was standing in your shoes, my friend. Feel free to follow my path:

"Future" is not a floor "wax" but a clear acrylic coating.  They call it "finish".  That is why you can use it as a clear coat on models. If it was wax, it wouldn't work as a clear coat.

It is still being made, but its name changed multiple times over the years.  It is now called "Pledge something something". I don't use it so I lost track of all the names. This (new) stuff is often mentioned in articles in FineScale Modeler Magazine.  If you like they way it works you should be able to find it in stores.

I used to refer people to a website called "Swannys Complete Future", but it seems to be gone.  That site had a history of all the name changes.

Future/Pledge since 1982 when a IPMS met had a clinic on it. Never did and harm to ANY paint job as long as it was gassed out.

I love it.

My local super Stop and Shop stopped carrying the Pledge, my bottle is better than half gone but I have a ways to go yet. Anyway, I saw it at Amazon.. I don't use the Pledge as much as I used to, tending more towards Tamiya X-22, Liquitex varnish or Rustoleum Lacquer with the black chair on the label. I wouldn't use that lacquer over enamel though, the others will all work. But ya, if you like Future and obviously you're used to it, look for the Pledge. There are several Pledge products not the same. For a while there there was one with lemon in it. You wouldn't want that.

I have a an old bottle of Future, easily 20 years old, and something is yellowing, either the Future itself or the bottle. So I'd say that, given enough time, Future might turn yellow.

Could also be the bottle.  I have some older clear plastic blister packs which yellowed badly over time.

Should be easy to tell what yellowed.  If it is the bottle itself, it will be yellow below and above the liquid level.  If it is just the liquid, then the yellow tint will only be up to the fluid level. Bottle above the fluid should look clear.

I have had good results using Krylon Crystal Clear. I apply a light coat or two, over enamel, before hosing it on.

That's how I use the Rustoleum clear lacquer, too, which has given me better results than the Krylon product. B)

Your local auto supply that carries paint should have clear enamel in spray cans. Modern paint have stuff in the paint to keep it from turning yellow and You ain't gonna leave this model sit in the sun and weather.

I'm not a big fan of Rustoleum products. They seem to dry much slower than Krylon, to me. I suspect the Rustoleum may be more sensitive to humidity, when it comes to drying. I've been a Krylon fan for decades, now! I want to build a (scale) hot rod, and call it "Krylon Bomb"! ?
