rightrudder Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 (edited) Finished up the pretty '53 Stude. I'm such a fan of the lines of this car! I've read that a member of Raymond Loewy's design team (and no doubt Loewy himself) was a fan of the Lockheed Constellation, and tried to incorporate the beautiful arc of the forward fuselage into the car's nose. (I did an autocross once at the Camarillo Airport, and got to pit beneath a Connie's wing, so I threw that pic in here just for fun!). Exterior is Tamiya Mica Red rattle can lacquer, TS-39, over light gray Tamiya Fine Surface Primer, and roof is airbrushed Tamiya white acrylic. Interior is Rustoleum Painter's Touch 2X Heirloom White and airbrushed Testors Light Gray enamel. Kit goes together easily and was a pleasure to build. Hood fits perfectly, which was a nice surprise. Bumpers are a little fiddly to mount, and radiator hose doesn't come close to reaching the radiator...I added about 2mm of styrene rod. Thanks for looking! Edit: I may redo the rear bumper. It has a couple of pegs that fit into the chassis (the way I glued it in), but you can get a better fit by shaving the pegs and gluing bumper directly to the body. espo Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 Beautiful looking finishes and excellent chassis details along with the engine. The paint color shows the great body lines that this car had as well as your model.
Bainford Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 Beautiful Stude. Such great looking cars, stylistically way ahead of their time, and your build really does it justice. Love the colour choices. Well done. 1
rightrudder Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Thank you both! Looking forward to getting back into the Impala street/track car, with no BMF involved!
Roger U Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 I have always thought the 53 Stude was a great looking car. This is a beautiful model of it. Great detailing and paint.
JollySipper Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 This looks really nice! I especially like how realistic the dash looks......

It's my best interior to date. It's nice how this model has big enough window openings to see the interior pretty well.
bisc63 Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Came out SO nice! I really like that creamy, off-white interior; looks very authentic. Whole build is a tremendous success, and was fun to watch develop! Well done.
happy grumpy Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 This one is on my soon to get list and seeing how a nice job you did on yours, I might get it sooner. Beautiful color and finish BTW ?
