rightrudder
Hi guys, Just finished my kit-bash '65 Foose Impala, with the idea of making a custom street/race car version. V-10 engine, seats and console are from a Tamiya Porsche Carrera GT kit, and wheels, slicks and rearview mirrors from a Tamiya 911 GT3 Cup Car kit. I scratch-built a rollcage, and shaved off all badges and script, plus the center rib of the hood. Primed with light gray Tamiya Fine Surface; main colors are Tamiya Park Green (TS-35) and airbrushed Tamiya Titan Gold acrylic. Accent color is Tamiya Italian Red (TS-8), which when sprayed over the green gave a nice maroon shade. Same paint was used over bare plastic for the rollcage, which shows how vivid this red can be. Bumpers and trim are airbrushed Tamiya Metallic Gray acrylic. Taillights were kinda dark red, so I sprayed them silver, then misted on some Tamiya clear red. Phew, lots of masking required! Next project will be a single color for sure. 😀 Thanks for looking!
rightrudder
One more of the engine. I liked the reflections off the coffee table glass.
ea0863
Phenomenal! And I love the "Impala SS meets Carrera GT" idea.

rightrudder
Thanks, guys! Emre, yes, a truly international effort! In the Carrera GT the engine is totally buried, and here it can show its full glory. I went with the red cam covers to set it off. BTW, the decals came from the '53 Studebaker kit, where you can build a twin-supercharged Hemi salt flats version.
Bainford
Cool. Nice work, Douglas. The big Chevy looks good in competition mode. The Porsche 12-can should make it move. Well done.

rightrudder
Thanks for all the great comments, guys! I'm recently retired so I was able to really dive into the build. Sometimes I feel I'm too obsessed with it, but as vices go, this one is good to have! Bob, your ultra-kool go kart gave me an idea to build a matching-scheme kart to tow behind the Impala. Not sure if I'll do it, but fun to ponder at least.

rightrudder
Thanks, guys, you're too kind! It really turned out the way I envisioned it. It's kinda weird that from certain angles it looks like a big Datsun 510!
