Someone's slinging an original issue '68 'Net 'Vert on eBay for something like 750.00$.

Good.

Luck.

Saw that too.  Been on for few months.  Not selling probably because the reissue is coming.

The Great Unloading has begun!  In the earlier days of eBay, if all of a sudden you saw several examples of a kit that had been impossible to find previously, the "reissue is coming soon" light came on...

You know, if I owned a Super Bee like that, I’m not sure I would hook a trailer up to the back.  If it’s a Dodge Polara station wagon, then sure. But not a Super Bee.

It was an odd choice of car to include a trailer with.  But who knows, it was 55 years ago.

Well, those 440s had a lot of torque and we’re pretty good haulin’ stuff. If I tried to haul a trailer like that with my Dodge Avenger, the entire rear end would come flying off!

Come to think of it, I remember seeing a picture of a ‘71 GTX hauling a boat.  Tell ya what, that would be a pretty good model to make: 1/25 scale Plymouth GTX with, instead of a trailer, a Sea Ray.

It was common back in the day for people to use their cars for towing campers, boats and cars on a trailer.  Didn't need a 440 to haul a small camper.  Even small block v8 engined cars could do the task.

Yeah, I remember in the 70s my Dad routinely towed a trailer (hauling furniture, etc) on his '67 Cougar (289 V8)..he later towed that same trailer in the 80s w/ his '85 Town Car and '84 Escort diesel to haul sheetrock, bags of concrete, etc.    He later towed it with a Ranger.

I couldn't imagine using a car today to tow a trailer.. I'd tow w/ my Jeep or a truck, though.

Found a pic of the trailer I took last year when cleaning out the barn...it was a homemade item my Dad bought in the 70s, I remember helping him load it as a kid.

Heh...you should have met my dad back in the day. As a welder, he built trailers for a living (mostly semis). All our family cars in the '70s had hitches.

(That 440 engine would have been way too big for his frugal senses though.)

Alright alright alright…. Sheesh.  But if they re-issue the 71 GTX (the MPC version) I want the boat as part of the model. Is Steve G listening?

So easy to forget that when these cars were just “cars that people drove”, many times they were used for utilitarian purposes.

A friend/former coworker of mine is the original owner of a 1970 Swinger 340; it was his daily driver from 1970 until at least 2001.

It had a hitch on it for decades, having towed boats and motorcycles (independent of each other). Evidence of clamp-on mirrors was on the front fenders from day one (paint was original until he had the car repainted a few years ago).

One look at Hamtramck Historical will exhibit Trailer Towing Package options for anything from the "lowly" A-bodies to the battering ram C-bodies.

I’m bookmarking this thread now. It’s one for the ages. I hope you guys can keep posting these old “mopars on the job” pictures all day long.

Daytonas towing Daytonas... these would be easy to build in scale w/ MPC trailers and MPC or Revell Daytonas.

Indeed. They were just cars, back then.

You’re looking at close to a million dollars worth cars right there

I remember my father taking my moms ‘72 Road Runner to the dump, driving THROUGH the dump to throw out some hazmats, then driving back home with a trail of dirt and sludge falling off the under carriage. The next day he took it to a gas station to have the engine bay steam cleaned.

Yup, they were just cars.

Anyone know if the 68 Coronet kits arrived in the US  and on their way to way to the distributers?

ordered one from Model Roundup in December. Original ETA was Feb.2023; that's been pushed to "Early March 2023".

Not sure if anyone else has received them yet... (I'm planning to buy more, next time via an independent hobby store).
