Zippi Posted June 23, 2022 Author Posted June 23, 2022 Ok fellows, I got the paint test completed this morning with success. I really like how the Tamiya Clear Orange over the Tamiya Bronze came out. That's the color the 40 Coupe will be. I'm hoping I can get it painted tomorrow.

bobthehobbyguy Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 That is a great color. Will suit the car well.
mrm Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Looking good. Always enjoyed working with Tamiya paint. There are some amazing results that can be achieved with their product. Looks like this is going to be one hot Forty.

Dragonhawk1066 Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 The Clear Orange over Bronze on the spoon looks fantastic!

Zippi Posted June 24, 2022 Author Posted June 24, 2022 (edited) Ok fellows.....the temp was 82° and the humidity was at 58% so it was time to airbrush the top coat on. I sprayed a couple extra coats on looking for a deeper color and I think I got what I was looking for. At this point, I'm not sure if it's going to need a clear coat or not. Maybe just a good polishing will do the trick. Edited June 24, 2022 by Zippi

cobraman Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 Great looking paint. I actually like the color on all the spoons.

Wolf Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 That looks great and what a beautiful color. From what I can see I'd probably go with rubbing down the paint as is without clear coat. Very sharp Bob! Cheers, Wolf

Yeah, that's what I did with the 30 Ford Coupe I build and it looked really nice.
David G. Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 The paint and color look fantastic Bob! Smooth and shiny. I'm curious, how did you get the business with the fit of the hood sorted out? David G.

The area where the cutout is for the bug catcher gave a little and that seem to be enough. So now I just pinch the hood a little and it snaps right on. It did before paint so we'll see.
